BY SANDRA JOSLING On Tuesday, May 19, the 2967 Royal Canadian Army Cadet Corps are having their annual inspection. The inspection will begin at 7 p.m. at the Brussels Legion Hall. On Friday, May 22 at 8 p.m. the 1992-93 elected officers will be installed. Installing will be a team from the Zone. All the new Ordi­ nary or Associate members are asked to attend at this time to be initiated. Any Branch 218 member that has not yet been initiated should plan to attend. Please con­ tact membership chairperson Elaine Nichol or leave a message at the Legion before May 22. Mixed dart results for April 21 Brussels People Gary Martin, son of Howard and Alice Martin, Brussels is spending three months in Guadeloupe - French West Indies. He is there under a studies ser- 4H visits nature centre Meeting three and four of the Brussels II 4H club was held at the home of leader Mary Sanders and at the East Wawanosh Nature Cen­ tre on Monday, April 27. Ten members answered the roll call with ideas of what to do if ever lost in the bush on a hike. Everyone did stretching exercises to warm up for a hike. Members brought along a sample of the different trail snacks they had made to munch on for the hike. Jane Thompson of the East Wawanosh Nature Centre told about orienteering. With a partner, members found their way through the bush and fields using a compass and map, answering questions about what they saw around them. Jane said the Nature Centre used to be a working farm that is being turned back into forest as a shelter for wildlife and a learning centre for schools, clubs, etc. Everyone enjoyed the hike in the woods very much. arc as follows: Bill Nethery and Lawrence Machan, first; Gord Jacklin and Sandra Josling, second. High shooter for the ladies was Martha Logan (124) and Lawrence Machan (117) for the men. Euchre results for Wed., Apr. 29 are as follows: high lady, Isobel Alcock; high man, Verna Tunney; low lady was Jean Little and low man, Gordon Nichol. Most lone hands for the ladies was Helen Dobson and Ross Brighton for the men. The most “two's” this week vice trimester from Goshen Col­ lege, Indiana, which he attends. Joe and Debbie Seili travelled to Kansas City, Missouri for a week on a business trip. They toured the city after several days of seminars to see new products by Universal Dairy Equipment. Eleanor Hemingway visited in Listowel on the weekend with Ruth Galbraith and attended the Chris­ tian Women meeting. The next euchre night will be Wednedsay, May 13 at 7:45 p.m. Bob Richardson and Eric Ross represented the District for the Provincial dart doubles finals in Toronto. This year they were unable to defend their doubles title and compete in the Nationals. Thanks to you both for representing the Branch at this level. Better shooting next year. The fraternal members wrapped up the winter sports programme with team bowling at Clinton. Rep­ resenting 218 and finishing ninth was Marge Adams, Andy Adams, Ernie Back and Ross Nicholson. The Brussels Legion made a sweep of the Ladies' Bluewater Dart League. Finishing first in the teams was the Brussels “B” team. Members are Colleen Martin, Marge Adams, Catherine Haycock, Diane Engel, Sharon D'Aoust. On their heels was the Brussels “C” team of Marg Bennett, Sandra Josling, Debbie Verway, Audrey Patterson, Ruth Pilgrim, Jeanette Blok. The Bly th Legion team fin­ ished third. The league will be pre­ senting the awards on Saturday, May 9 in Lucknow. Accommodations Newly renovated guest rooms available from May 17 The regular meeting of Morning Star Rebekah Lodge took place Tuesday, April 28 with Noble Grand Leola Hood presiding. There was a good attendance. Two new members, Mrs. Mae Ebel and Mrs. Joyce Jacklin, were wel­ comed. The Initiatory Degree was conferred on them in Pride of Huron Lodge, Exeter on April 22. Charitable donations were made to Mission Services of London and to leukemia research Camp Trilli­ um. Jean Bridge gave a report of the District meeting in Clinton on April 15. Janet McCutcheon gave a report on an open meeting of Town and Country Homemakers telling of the many services available.
