PAGE 27. HAVE A "NIFTY FIFTY!" James Gordon and David Archibald have combined their considerable talents to create a zany yet informative new environ mental show, which comes to Blyth Memorial Hall on Saturday, April 25, at 2 p.m. Jim and Dave's Awesome Environmental Adventure rounds out the Blyth Festival of Entertain ment's Just For Kids series support ed by CKNX FM 102 and Children's Aid Society of Huron County. The adventure begins when Jim and Dave head out to the wilder ness for their summer vacation. On their way, they discover that acid rain has killed all the fish at then- favourite water hole, pollution has wrecked the beach, the thinning ozone layer makes it dangerous to be in the sun, and garbage is every where because landfill sites are overflowing. But Jim and Dave also discover, and demonstrate to the audience, the many ways that we all can lead more environmen- tally-friendly lives. Combining theatre, song and audience partici pation, Jim and Dave emphasize the three Rs of the nineties - reduce, reuse and recycle. As well, lhe issues of over-packaging, nutri tional health, fitness, littering and conscientious shopping all play integral parts of the presentation. James Gordon is known across the country as a fine children's entertainer and his two popular albums No Grown-Ups Allowed and Bouncy, Bouncy - are filled with his upbeat songs for young people. He is the founding member of the traditional folk group Tama rack which has recorded five albums, toured throughout North America and been featured in two national television specials. David Archibald's original com positions for Sesame Street have been broadcast worldwide for the past ten years. He also scored the popular children's musical Return of the Tiger for the Guelph Spring Festival. As part of the Ontario Arts Council's Creative Artists in the School's program, David has overseen the creation of several original musicals across Ontario. Children are our future. In order to create the best community possi ble, they must grow up in an envi ronment that encourages them reach their full potential.
