Blyth students sell daffodils by Kathy Fraser Selling daffodils has both good and bad points. The good points are that you get to talk with people and it helps students to not be nervous when talking to people. It is also good to help with math. The main tips are be friendly and smile. The bad points about selling daffodils are standing out in the cold just waiting for someone to say, “I'm sorry I bought some yes terday.” On the morning of April 3, some volunteers from Blyth's grade eight class went to the main street of Blyth. They went in groups of two or three to sell the daffodils for the Cancer Society. They were in bundles selling for $3. All of the people were friendly and helped out a lot even if it was just a little tip. It takes you to make the differ ence. Support your Cancer Society. SCIENCE FAIR RESULTS by Jennifer Brigham and Zoey Onn 1-2-3, how many more can there be? This past week B.P.S. has been hosting the Science Fair Project. John Armstrong and Trent Rich mond have been chosen to move on to the next level at Brussels. They will be entering the Physical category at Brussels Community Centre. 4-5-6, oh look a project on bricks’ TREES, SAP AND FUN by Charlene Hulzebos and Jill Jenkins On Tuesday, March 31, the grade one class went to Laura Walden's sugar bush for part of the after noon. They left B.P.S. at 1 p.m. When they arrived at the bush, they went into the sugar shack where the sap gets boiled. They were shown the equipment that is used. Next they all went to see how the trees were tapped. They tried some of the sap right out of the can. Some liked it, some didn't. They went back to the sugar shack and tried syrup after it went through the machines. Everyone liked that. When they were finished asking their questions, they arrived back at the school at 2:30 p.m. Thanks to the Walden family for having grade ones at the bush. They all enjoyed it. The grade ones and Mrs. Battye also appreciate the parents who helped to transport the children to the bush.
