PASTOR TOM WARNER BRUSSELS MENNONITE FELLOWSHIP The fool has said, in his heart, ‘There is no God. Psalm 14:1. Is April 1 the day you celebrate your choice to no believe in Jesus Christ? It's interesting that once a year we are reminded of our basic nature, to be foolish. Yet at what point does foolishness become power? God says that the “message of the cross is foolishness ...” If I do not finish this verse I am a fool. Yet so many folk go no further with God than this. It continues this way. “The message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.” 1 Corinthians 1:17. What is this cross of foolish ness? It is the cross of Christ that tells me a person died in my place for my sins. Sins is an old- fashioned word. Well so arc people. After all, have not people been around for at least a few thousand years? I honestly can not see much difference between us and peoples from the past. Except for clothes and language they, like we, experienced birth, death, eating, sleeping and so on. Also they, like we, sin. Murder has always been one of many sins. Now I may not personally kill another person. But Jesus said that when I call someone a fool I have already committed murder in my heart and am guilty and sentenced to hell. (Oh dear, another old-fashioned word we don't like to use.) That too is part of the ‘Foolish Cross’. It is because I am a sinner that I am deserving of hell. When Christ died, He went to hell in my place until three days later He was raised from the place of eternal death and then later on went to heaven, to where eternal life is. Therefore I choose to believe in Jesus and Him alone on this “Fools Day”. But I don't feel like a fool. I feel now the power of God to live and die without fear of life or death. I hope in your heart you have chosen also to believe in Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour from your sins. It's a wise choice. Faith, topic ofpastor's sermon On Sunday, March 29 a men's quartet consisting of Pastor Came, Clarke Teall, Will Jardine, and Marlin Good sang the old favourite song, “On the Jericho Road”.
