This year's theme will be "Part­ ners in Change", which Mrs. Phillips says reflects the changing social issues affecting the nursing profession. One such issue is the government's proposal for the redi­ rection of Long-Term Care, which is to enable seniors to remain inde­ pendent longer. By working with the government, the hospitals, doc­ tors and the care-givers, the Associ­ ation hopes to have some effect upon such legislations. Mrs. Phillips, who has been a Registered Nurse for 27 years, cur­ rently works at the Wingham and District Hospital. She has been involved with the Association on a vary” accompanied by Phylis Boak on piano. Frances Bearss was in charge of Junior Congregation while Debbie Stryker led the nursery. It was announced that the Evening Unit will meet at 8 p.m. on Wednesday, March 25 with the theme “Getting the Body in Shape”. In celebration and to promote Nurses Week (May 10-16), Mrs. Phillips has been given the honour of throwing out the first pitch for the Toronto Blue Jays on the desig­ nated Nurses Day, May 12. She says approximately 2,500 Nurses and families are expected to attend the game between the Blue Jays and the Oakland A's. based on the scripture reading in Luke. Blyth People Last weekend Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Snell visited with family, Mr. and Mrs. Jim Timpany and Dean of Aylmer, and Mr. and Mrs. Jack Johnson of London. There were six tables in play at Blylh's Lost Heir party on March 18. Winners were: high lady, Nora Kelly; high man, Edgar Howatt; low lady, Ruth Shiell and low man Ted East. Feme Howatt won the Special. Word was received that former Blyth resident Maurice Farthing passed away at the Clarion Nursing Home in Hamilton at the age of 91. Mixed darts were played at the Blyth Legion on March 20.
