Ottawa, K2C 3J1 Control barnyard run-off speaker tells farmers Continued from page 11. for liquid runoff. Some farmers have gone as far as roofed pads to keep rain and snow water out of the manure he said but this is very expensive unless the farmer can do most of the building himself. Proper landscaping can divert before it runs into the barnyard and causes a problem. But even without rain water, liquid can be a problem in solid manure. Typically, cattle manure is 84-88 per cent moisture and pig manures slightly less. A farmer will either have to add dry matter to make dry manure or add moisture to make liquid manure. Whether a farmer chooses a solid or liquid manure system will depend on labour savings, cost ben efits, regulations and aesthetics and what system the farmer wants to work with. He advised farmers to always be looking at the possi bility of future expansion and he said that right now there are gov ernment grants for new facilities- a carrot to improvements. Someday in the future, he warned, the "stick" of regulations might be used. The minimum storage capacity recommended these days is 200 with the provision under the Clean up Rural Beaches (CURB) program being 240 days. Some Huron County municipal bylaws require 240 day storage and a lot of people are now looking at 365 and even 400-day storage. STEEL BUILDINGS BEWARE OF LOW PRICES. He grieved, he wept and his heart was broken but he still trusted in God. Job struggled for piety amidst his despair. Christ also experienced betrayal, agony and abandonment on the cross yet he placed his Lust in God alone. Mr. DeRuiter asked each of us, “have you been tried?” Have you experienced loss of possessions, loss of loved ones? Are you still willing to trust in God? God has a plan for each of our lives and even in all our hurts, pains and losses he weaves an intelligent design meant for our benefit. Nothing but faith and assurance in Christ and allow ing God control, can make us sur vive and overcome obstacles or trials in our lives. The afternoon sermon was enti tled “Image of god or God?” Scrip ture was taken from Isaiah 40: 18-25 with the text Romans 1: 23. Mr. DeRuiter reflected on how people are inclined to worship idols over God. The Israelites did so throughout the Old Testament times.
