Junior Kindergarten discussed again at Bd. of Ed. A recommendation to send a forecast of the building require ments for the Huron County Board of Education to implement Junior Kindergarten brought typical con troversy amongst trustees at the March 2 meeting. Some trustees, John Jewitt among them, felt that to take any action is going against the board's plan to have no action regarding JK. "Until I see figures that this will be financially beneficial to the ratepayers of Huron I don’t think this board should do anything" he said. Others felt however, that this is simply to provide information to the Ministry showing how much the county would need to imple ment JK. Joan Van den Broeck said, "If the Ministry doesn't have the list, they won't know what the costs will be to us." Trustee Bob Burton disagreed saying, "Every time you give in to a request from the Ministry, you let them think you approve." Trustee Doug Gamiss, however, said that the motion was not show ing any commitment on the board's part, but was simply including JK in the multi-year forecast as it has been the past two years. The Board voted to submit the list of schoosl that would require renovation or addition for JK space to the Ministry as part of the Multi- Year Forecast for grant purposes, but with a letter reinstating their objections to the proposed pro gram. ‘ EVER'' Place your classified ad in person (pre-paid) and ) -rnURS°A'f you’ll enjoy a base-rate of only $3.00 for the first 20 words
