This member of the Bulls Junior "C" team lunges to intercept the play off the Hanover Barons
player in the hot and heavy action in front of the Bulls’ net, during Sunday's game. There was
a full house at the Brussels arena on Friday and Sunday to watch the Bulls and Barons face
off in this playoff series. The Barons lead two games to one.

slated for Thursday night in
Hanover, it couldn't be any closer,
Hanover leads the best of seven
series 2-1.
The Bulls knotted things up at
one game each Friday night with a
convincing 4-0 shutout of the
defending All Ontario champions.
Right winger Sam Kulafofski set
up linemale Todd Norman in the
first period and then did it again in
the second but this time it was Greg
McNevan who snapped a shot past
Baron’s goalie Jordan Willis. The
score remained 2-0 until late in the
third period when two quick goals
sealed the victory. With the Bulls

The Belgrave Novices put on an
excellent show at the Milverton
WOAA Houseleague Tournament
this past weekend, bringing home
the "A" trophy.
Game one was played against
Elora. The teams were closely
matched and played up and down
the ice. Forward Justin Campbell
scored the first goal from forwards
Tim Robinson and Aaron Himmel-
man in the first period. Elora came
back one minute later to tie. Bel
grave took the lead again with just
53 seconds left, when forward
Aaron Bakker scored from forward
Craig Marks.
Himmelman got the assist in the
second period when Matthew
Cameron, who dropped the puck in
the net. Elora came back to score
two goals tying the game again.
With 1:32 left Cameron scored
assisted by Travis Campbell and
Himmelman, putting Belgrave once
more in the lead. Then with just 20
seconds left Campell and Marks
set up Justin Campbell for the
goal.
Elora scored first in the third, but
on a powerplay Jason McNichol
took a pass from Brad Carter and
slapped a shot off the right post by
a surprised Willis. Then seconds
later Hanover coughed the puck up
at their own blueline and Brad
Carter deked out Willis to make it
4-0. Jeff Roy turned aside 21 Baron
shots for the shutout and was the
start of the game for Brussels.
Coach Scott Pettigrew said, “I
thought tonight we got outstanding
goaltending and when we got
chances to score we finished. We
used our size to slow them down
and that was probably the key.”
The Barons regained the series
lead on Sunday with a 5-2 decision.
Brussels opened the scoring just
seconds into the game on a goal by
Jason McNichol but Hanover came
right back 20 seconds later to tie
the score. From then on it was spe

was in Florida, but Belgrave's
excellent passing helped them them
pull off the win.

Game two was against the host
team. Belgrave took the lead in the
first period with Craig Marks scor
ing off Matthew Cameron. Then in
the second period the pair teamed
up again to give Belgrave a 2-0
lead.
Milverton, however, rebounded
with two goals making it a tie game
at the end of the second period.
Belgrave came back strong after
play, while Corey McKee tapped in
a short-handed marker for the
Bulls. It was 3-2 late in the game
when the Bulls took a four minute

“I'll take the blame for this one,”
said Coach Pettigrew. “Our power
play did not execute and that's my
fault, I didn't make the adjustments
necessary. I made a number of bad
decisions during the game and it
cost us.”
The referees were busy in both
games. Jamie Kearns handed out
108 minutes in penalties on Friday
night. Each team raked in 54 min
utes. Dave Horsby called 74 min

In the third game, Belgrave had
their hands full with a strong St.

brought them to a 5-3 victory.
St. Marys hit hard during the first

The Blyth Bantams were elimi
nated from further O.M.H.A. Play
off action last week as they lost two
games to Normanby.
Blyth hosted game three on
March 2 as Normanby rode two
early third period power play goals
to a 7-3 win.
Normanby opened a 2-0 first
period lead before the line of Tim
Lyons, Michael Bromley and Ryan
Chamney evened the score. Lyons
cut the lead to 2-1, assisted by
Bromley and Chamney, as he
caught the goalie out of position
with four minutes left in the first.
The trio combined two minutes
later to tie the game at 2-2 as
Chamney and Lyons set up Brom
ley's equalizer.
Normanby took a 3-2 lead before
the first period ended but Blyth
scored the only second period tally
to once again even the score, this
time 3-3. Tim Lyons had the hon
ours with an assist to Michael
Bromley.
It was all Normanby in the third
as they scored two early power play
goals then added two late goals to
power their way to a convincing 7-
3 win.
This gave the visitors a 2-1 series
lead with the fourth game played in
Ayton on March 5. Injuries and a
suspension finally took their toll as
Normanby won the W.O.A.A. Ban
tam “E” final coasting past Blyth 7-
2.

home team to a 5-0 lead.
Both teams notched a goal in the
first minute of the third. Michael de
Jong counted Blyth's goal as he
pinched in al the point and rifled a
backhand shot up into the lop shelf.
After Normanby took a 7-1 lead,
Blyth closed out the scoring late in
the game. Peter Craig picked up the
rebound of Brian McNichol's shot
and fed Tim Lyons in the slot and
Lyons buried die puck behind the
Normanby netminder.
Although two evenly matched
teams started the series, injuries
and penalties were too much of an
obstacle for Blyth to overcome.
This 7-2 Normanby victory gave
them the W.O.A.A. Championship
and a trip to the O.M.H.A. semi
finals.
Group Playoffs are all that is left
for the Bantams. Blyth Minor
Hockey and Ringette have a season
ending banquet planned for April
10. Everyone is welcome, just con

advance to the O.M.H.A. Semi-
Finals against Cayuga.
