Students win Legion contest
Work rewarded
Connie Bromley (right) was honoured for eight years of
volunteer work with the Scouting movement in Blyth when
she was presented with a plaque by Joan Clark, of the
First Blyth Scout Group Committee during the Scout-Guide
Week banquet Wednesday night in Blyth. She started out
as a Beaver leader then served as treasurer of the
committee.
On Friday, Feb. 7, Blyth Figure
Skating Club held a Test Day with
skaters from Brussels, Wingham,
Clinton, Seaforth and Blyth area
taking part. Local skaters passing
their Dances and Figures were:
Preliminary Dances: Dutch
Waltz, Melissa Hanna; Canasta,
Julie Ritchie; Baby Blues, Melissa
Hanna, Christina Lapp and Julie
Ritchie.
Jr. Bronze Dances: Fiesta,
Ashley Howson, Courtney Sauve;
Blyth
There were eight tables in play at
the weekly euchre party held on
Feb. 17 at Memorial Hall.
Winners were: high lady, Vera
Hesselwood; high man, Millar
Richmond; low lady, Mary Shob-
brook; low man, Len Shobbrook;
ladies' lone hands, Ella Richmond,
men's lone hands, Ted Fothergill;
special table- number three, Geral
dine Dale, Alex Nethery, Nora
Kelly and Ernie Brown.
Julie Daer of London visited
Thursday evening with her grand
parents Mr. and Mrs. Bert Daer.
There will be no weekly Lost
Heir card parties until further
notice.

Auburn woman
escapes injury
An Auburn-area teen escaped
injury after the car she was driving
went out of control in heavy snow
conditions last Thursday near
County Road 25 in Hullett Town
ship.
A spokesperson from the Wing-
ham OPP said Brenda Verburg, 17,
of RR1, Auburn, was driving south
on Highway 4 when the accident
occurred. Police say, after losing
control Miss Verburg's 1984 pick
up skidded into the west snowbank
then rolled.
