Active trade at Brussels Livestock last week Sales at Brussels Livestock for the week ending January 31 were: slaughter cattle, 850; cows, 305; veal calves, 200; lambs and goats, 110; stockers, 375; pigs, 135. The trade at Brussels Livestock was active this week. There were 566 steers on offer selling from $78.25 to $86 to the high of $93. Sixteen steers consigned by Howard Martin, Brussels averaging 1299 lbs. sold for an average of $87 to the high of $93. Forty-four steers consigned by W. B. Pletch Co. Ltd. Rockwood averaging 1318 lbs. sold for an average $85.50 to the high of $91. Fifteen steers consigned by Ken Eadie, Holyrood averaging 1496 lbs. sold for an average of $83.60 to the high of $88. Twenty-six steers consigned by M.C. Oldfield, Brussels averaging 1352 lbs. sold for an average $83 to the high of $85.80. Twenty-five steers consigned by Gerald Giesel, Don Alton heads Huron 4H leaders' association For 40 years, the 4-H leaders in Huron County have had an active leaders' association. The mandate then is still the same as it is today and still as relevant .... 4-H is for the personal development of youth in rural Ontario. Saturday, January 25 was the annual meeting date for the 108 4-H leaders and their spouses. Con­ stable John Marshall, Goderich O.P.P. was the guest speaker on the topic “Putting the Child First”. It was a chance for awareness on the warning signs children will show concerning physical, sexual and mental abuse. Three cows consigned by Don Dow, Wingham averaging 1293 lbs. sold for an average of $56.70 to the high of $63. There were 200 veal on offer selling from $59.50 to $86.50 to the high of $102. One veal consigned by Finley Pfeffer, Clifford weighed 540 lbs. sold for $90. Sixteen veal con­ signed by Keith Nelson, Palmer­ ston averaging 646 lbs. sold for an average of $82.20 to the high of $91.50.
