Margaret Mclnroy was hostess
for the Walton Women's Institute
Christmas meeting. Members were
welcomed to her home at 7:30 p.m.
Wednesday evening, December 18,
for dessert and coffee, tea or juice.
After the Institute Grace everyone
sat around the long dining room
table for the refreshments and a
social time.
Margaret pulled names of each
member that were signed when
they arrived and they supplied a
number of readings, poems, jokes
or riddles during the evening.
In the business it was decided to
lake the food items donated to the
Salvation Army in Wingham. An
invitation was read for the 90th
Anniversary of the Gorrie W.I. on
Wednesday, January 15, 2 p.m. at
the Gorrie United Church. It was
moved that a carload of ladies
would attend. There will be a noon
luncheon that day, Jan. 15. Helen
Craig offered to replace Marjory
Humphries over the noon hour.
Correspondence included a letter
from the Quilt Event in February
and the Adult Training Course to
hear more on these the next meet
ing.
Guest was Rick, Margaret’s hus
band who was dressed in one of his
clown suits, and showed how to
become a clown, making up his
face that lakes an hour when he is
to be a clown for parades or other
functions. There are three types of
clowns but no two clowns are made
up the same, everyone is different.
A clown is called a Joey and he
belongs to the International Shrine
Clown Association. His outfits are
quite expensive even to his large
shoes which he had on display.
Then Rick blew up the long bal
loons and made many different
objects that were given out. Several
door prizes were drawn for from
the members names signed as we
arrived. Margaret and Rick were
thanked for the very interesting

The most wonderful Christmas
gifts are not always the biggest and
most expensive. Many people pre
fer smaller, more intimate presents
that reflect personal feelings.
This year, fill the family's stock
ings with clever little packages that
show how much you care.
Young and old alike delight in
discovering stocking surprises.
Give the sports fan tickets to an
upcoming match of his favourite
football or hockey team. Amuse a
teenager with a pocket camera and
film.
And, nearly everyone appreciates
a best-selling paperback, a tape cas
sette of favourite music, or a maga
zine subscription.
Watch the special woman in your
life light up when she discovers a
classic cameo pin or a pair of lus
trous pearl earrings nestled in her
stocking.
Cashmere argyle socks or a plaid
wool scarf will keep him warm and
cozy during the winter months.
Delicious candy in festive shapes
and colours also makes an ideal
stocking gift.
