BY RUSTY BLADES The Blyth Bantams chalked up two more league wins last week as they shaded Elma-Logan 6-4 at home on December 16, then thumped Goderich II 9-2 in Goderich on December 18. Against Elma-Logan, each team scored three power play goals in a penalty-filled contest. Michael Bromley recorded yet another hat- trick with Tim Lyons picking up two goals and Michael de Jong rounding out the scoring with one minute left in the game. Michael de Jong, Ryan Chamney, Jerrod But ton and Brian McNichol each recorded two assists with Jonathan Collins and Wilfred Datema adding one each. Chris Lee came through with some big saves late in the game as Blyth hung on for a 6-4 win. The undisciplined play continued in Goderich but Blyth had more than enough firepower to easily handle Goderich II 9-2, recording both a short-handed and a power play goal in the win. Tim Lyons proved that his scor ing is indeed out of control as he scored two more goals and set up three others. Jonathan Collins scored his first two goals of the season with two impressive blasts from the blue line. Jerrod Button was the third team member to record two goals in the game, both on screen shots. Defenceman Peter Craig spent the night rushing the puck and he was rewarded with a goal and three assists. Christopher Howson scored the pretties goal of the game while killing a penalty as he deflected in a hard pass from the comer past a weary Goderich puck stopper. Michael Bromley scored Blyth's power play goal and also assisted on one goal. Michael de Jong, with three, and Ryan Cham- ney rounded out the scoring stats with assists. The WOAA league schedule now takes a holiday hiatus but the Bantams will still be in action as they take part in the Kincardine Bantam Silver Stick Tournament. Tips for lively holiday traditions The holidays are a time for fami ly gatherings, to celebrate the joy and warmth of a special season. The anticipation of gifts and tradi tions, like decorating the home for the holidays, are cherished by chil dren and adults alike and help set the mood for the holiday spirit. At this busy time of the year, it’s not always easy for family mem bers to find a few moments each day to celebrate the holidays. But families can share in the spirit of the season together, while adding some holiday cheer to their home. Create a festive mood for your children and their friends by help ing them make their own re-usable, easy-to-clean placemats: •Completely cover a piece of foam core or cardboard (approxi mately 15" x 10") with Festival paper towels and glue in place; •Have the children colour and write their names on the towel; •Use clear contact paper to cover the towel. •For your own holiday tables at family gatherings or parties, try a new napkin design fold that will impress your family and friends: •Place a holiday napkin in a dia mond shape with the fold along the lower right edge; •Fold the napkin in thirds by folding right and left points toward the middle, and overlapping them until a sharp point is formed at the base; •Tum the napkin over and gently slip a napkin ring over the bottom point to about the center of the nap kin, or tie it with a ribbon; •Tuck a poinsettia in the napkin ring or ribbon.
