Meeting Jan. 8 will discuss Blyth's PRIDE program plans Plans for improvements to street lights, sidewalks, storm sewers and watermains along Blyth’s main street will be discusses with the public at a special meeting of Blylh Council Jan. 8 at Blyth Memorial Hall. The plans would be carried out under the PRIDE grant received from the province and would upgrade services to go along with the reconstruction of main (Queen) St., as part of the Ministry of Transporation's Highway 4 recon­ struction. Village council reviewed those plans with Art Clark of Mait­ land Engineering at regular council meeting Dec. 17. Under the plans the Public Utili­ ties Commission would relocate electrical lines, upgrade services, relocate transformers, relocate street lights and generally beautify the downtown area. Several water­ mains that cross main street would be replaced and a storm sewer will be replaced in a three-block area of the main core. New sidewalks will also be installed north and south of the core area and other sidewalks will be replaced. The meeting will be at the Bain­ ton Gallery, Memorial Hall, Jan. 8 at 8 p.m. Have the greatest Christmas ever! Crime Stoppers Crime of the Week Thanks for making ours a real treat! 887-9517 BREAK, ENTER AND THEFT - HOWICK CENTRAL On the night of December 12, between the hours of 11:30 p.m. and 7:30 a.m., 1991, the Howick Central School was broke into and theft of a number of items occurred. A vehicle was backed up to the north end of the school, a window was smashed and entry was gained. Three suspects are believed to have removed property from various classrooms. Stolen property as follows: three Commodore Disc Drives, eight Commodore monitors, three Com­ modore keyboards, five printers (three Panasonic, one Star Rain­ bow, one unknown), three Com­ modore Amiga 2000 hard drive computers, two Commodore Amiga 500 computers, two Commodore Amiga external disc drives, a Real­ istic portable P.A. system, a Realis­ tic synthesizer, a Realistic stereo mixing console, a stereo dual cas­ sette deck with dolby, a Realistic 8 band frequency recorder concert­ mate 2000, a Realistic wireless remote microphone, a Realistic record player, and twelve, three and a half inch computer discs. Total estimated value is at $16,807. THEFT OVER - WALTON Between the hours of 6 and 8 p.m. on the night of December 13, 1991, a theft was committed at McGavin Farm Equipment, County Road 12, Walton. A blue, 1991 Ford, 10 HP riding lawn tractor was stolen from the side of the building. The estimated worth is at $2100. BREAK, ENTER AND THEFT - HOWICK ARENA Between the hours of 11:30 p.m. Nov. 22, and 9:15 a.m., Nov. 23, 1991, the Howick arena was broken into resulting in the theft of approx­ imately $1,000. Entry to the building was gained when a panel of a large wooden door on the north side was kicked out. The culprit(s) then entered the office and the safe was pried open with a tire iron or a large screw­ driver. Approximately $967 cash and $40-50 of loonies was stolen.
