E. Wawanosh students prepare for Christmas
EDITORS:
MS. THORPE-HEARN'S
GRADE 5/6 CLASS
Kindergarten: On Wednesday,
December 11, the Kindergarten
class went to the Huron County
Museum in Goderich. They really
enjoyed ringing the bell on the
black train engine and weighing
themselves in pounds on the penny
scale!
Grade 1: The grade one class
really enjoyed the Huron County
Museum. They took home bears
which they each made and have
had no trouble finding good spots
dents are making lots of Christmas
stuff! They even made bouncy San
tas to hang on their Christmas tree!
They are getting very excited as it
for them all! They are practising for
the Christmas concert on December
18. They are going to be stars!
Grade 2: Mrs. Dodd's grade two
class has started Christmas centres
and has been making card holders.
They went to the Goderich Muse
um on Friday, December 13 and
thought it was fun. The grade twos
have decorated their classroom and
have been working very hard on
their part of the Christmas concert.
Grade 2: Mrs. Hessels' grade two
class has been learning how to do
measurement in Math class. They
are also learning how to keep them
selves healthy. At the Huron Coun
ty Museum, they made climbing
bears and bookmarks that say “150
Years of County Government
1841-1991”. During class, the stu-
is getting close to the Christmas
concert.
Grade 3: Miss Mather's grade
three class is practising for the
Christmas play called “Kittens”
that they are performing with Mrs.
Dodd's grade two class. They are
rotating around eight Christmas
centres in their classroom. They are
also reading Christmas stories,
doing Christmas math, spelling and
art! The class really enjoyed their
trip to the Huron County Historic
Museum in Goderich on Friday,
December 13.
Grade 4; Mr. Fisher's grade four
class is pleased to announce that
December 12, Madame Rae, their
Environmental Studies teacher took
them on a field trip to the Huron
County Museum in Goderich. They
enjoyed themselves and were very
surprised to learn that the people
who made the climbing bears, had
to make 3,000 wooden bears for the
all the people who would attend the
workshops! Thank you very much
Madame Rae. The grade fours have
been practising very hard on their
part for the Christmas concert. We
are pleased to report that their
Christmas recorder music is sound
ing better and better all the time.
Grade 5: Mr. Kerr's grade five
class enjoyed their visit to the
Museum. Matthew Beck, Peter
Irwin and Jason McBumey liked
making the climbing bears the best,
while Ryan Cook favoured the
apple cider. They hope the Christ
mas program goes on for years and
years to come.
Grade 5/6: On Thursday, Decem
ber 12, our class enjoyed the
“Christmas Celebration” workshop
offered by the Huron County
Museum. Mrs. Karen McCallum
and Mrs. Barb Pletch both joined
us as parent volunteers, and we
would especially like to thank them
for their help. We are studying
France this week and look forward
to studying England next week.
Our “Secret Santa” game is in full
swing and we are enjoying the little
notes and treats our Santas leave
us. Some of us have made paper
sculpture angels, reindeer, santas,
and nutcrackers to decorate our
classroom with. Next week, we will
be working on a special craft pro
ject which will end in a gift that we
can give somebody for Christmas.
Grade 7: The grade seven class is

excited about Christmas. They are
celebrating Christmas by having a
Christmas dinner where each of
them will make food to contribute
to the entire class. They have made
candle holders out of pine cones,
and are very busy publishing their
Christmas books. The Industrial
Arts group of grade seven students
is going to be touring F. E. Madill
Secondary School.
Grade 8: The grade eights have
been having extra art time this
week and using it to brighten up
their classroom with chalkboard
pictures, hall decorations and win
dow paintings all in the Christmas
theme. They have been rehearsing
the carols that they will be singing
at the Christmas concert next week.
Studgnis’ Council; The Students'
Council will be hosting Christmas
games for grade 1 through 4 on
Thursday, December 19 and be
sponsoring a Christmas dance for
grade 5 through 8 on Friday,

body is looking forward to these
festive events.

CAN’T SWIM...
A Note of Special Interest: Last
Friday, December 6, our teachers
and their spouses had their Christ
mas staff party. All who were able
to attend had a fantastic time; how
ever, the flu bug managed to lake
its toll here as well.
