Mennonites light Advent candle On Sunday, December 8, Pastor Tom preached from Ephesians 5: 8- 21. Sharlene Keupfer and Darlene Hemingway lit the advent candles for the second Sunday of Advent. The second candle represents light. We have light in our life in the life of Christ when we become children of God. The light enables us to see the truth and offer ourselves to God, and thus avoid the deeds of darkness, for Christ's light can enable us to identify these deeds. Our goal is to walk a life of light and our destination is salvation. If we perceive people with anger and criticism, then we live in darkness and cannot see the light in people. We cannot see our own sin if we live in a world of darkness. True Christians live a life of light because they love God. If we hold on to Christ and never let Him go, He will never let us go.
