Flower girl was Sarah Bowland, a n*cce of the bride, from Montreal. Attending the groom was his cousin Bruce Higgins of RR5, Brussels. Guests were ushered in by Jeff Alton, RR7, Lucknow, friend of the groom and Wayne Higgins, Brussels, brother of the groom. Carrying the rings was the bride's nephew, Daniel Drennan of RR2, Auburn. Blyth United prepares for Christmas The theme for Sunday's church service at Blyth United Church on December 8 was “Preparations for Christmas”, and certainly the sanc tuary exemplified this theme with its decorations of holly and poinset- tias. Greeting worshippers at the door were Barb and Terry Richmond. The usiiers were Betty and Mark Nethery, Brenda Brooks and Dick Poore. Betty Lewis was in charge of Junior Congregation and Karen Hallahan was in the nursery. Special music featured a quartet of Dan Snell, John McDowell, Shane Snel,' and Garth Walden. They sang “Put a Light in the Win dow of Your Heart” and “Only a Prayer Away”. The message was based on Malachi 3, verses 1-4 and Luke 3, verses 1 -6. Rev. Ramirez noted that long before Jesus Christ was bom God had prepared a nation for His coming. He stressed that our prepa rations for Christmas should include: (1) Cleansing our hearts so our gifts are given out of love. (2) Repentance. Through Jesus Christ we have a feeling of comfort and easiness because we have been forgiven of our sins. (3) Give also to those in need through Missions and Special appeals. (4) Be still and listen to what God is saying to us. The gift that God wants most from all of us is an open heart. The Church bulletin showed a busy week ahead for our Church groups. Some dates to remember are: the Sunday School Pageant at 11 a.m. on December 15; the Com munity Advent Service at Auburn United Church on December 15 at 8 p.m.; the Community Carol Singing and Hayride on December 21 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. followed by a concert in Memorial Hall; Christmas Eve Service on Decem ber 24 in Blyth United Church.
