Members of the council include: (front row, left to right) Ron Gross, Deputy reeve, Tom Cunningham, Reeve, Beverly Shaddick, clerk-treasurer; (back) Ken Hulley, Tom Duizer, Tony Middegaal and Road Superintendant, Jim Johnston. UCW hears of Korean Scout trip Greeters at Londesboro United Church on Sunday, Dec. 8 were Tom and Marjorie Duizer. Ushers were Elvis Vincent, Paul Jewitt and Rick Archambault. The Sunday School children pre­ sented “Gifts of Love” for this 1991 White Gift service. This was very well done with Linda Hor- banuik as leader. She lit the first Advent candle. Many White Gifts were received. The Christmas pot luck dinner was held after the service. Thanks is extended to all who donated to Junior Youth Group Food Drive on Thursday. Senior Youth Group will meet Thursday, Dec. 12 at 8 p.m. at Paul's Place. Senior choir practice is on Friday, December 13 at 7:30 p.m. Further practice will be Sun­ day, Dec. 15 and 22 at 10:30 a.m. An Ecumenical Christmas service at 7:30 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 15 will be held at Knox United Church, Auburn. People in the news June Fothergill received the sad news of the sudden passing of her brother-in-law Wm. Gilmore of Gowanstown on Tuesday evening. Shuffleboard was held at Huilett Central School on Wednesday, Dec. 4. High lady was Geraldine Dale and high man, Reg. Lawson. The Christmas meeting of Lon­ desboro U.C.W. was held at the Church on Monday evening, December 2 at 6:30 p.m. Rev. Paul Ross led in prayer. All enjoyed a delicious pot luck dinner. Members of Auburn and Burns U.C.W. joined the Londesboro ladies. The group enjoyed singing Christmas carols with Marsha Szusz at the piano. Several ladies presented a skit “The Trip to Christmas” and light­ ed several candles to illustrate the story. Guest speaker was Greg McClinchey. He spoke on his Boy Scout trip to Korea last August. He also visited Hong Kong and China. He showed a film and his talk was very interesting. Gail Lear thanked him and presented him with a gift. Sep. School Bd. briefs Huron-Perth Roman Catholic Separate School Board Chairman B. Murray presented V. Mclnnes, past chairman of the board with a gift on behalf of the board for his years of service and dedication at the November 25 meeting. *•* It was noted that as yet, no report had been received from the OPP or the Clinton Police regarding van­ dalism at St. Joseph's School, Clin­ ton. The board supported the Dryden Board of Education in expressing concern to the Ministry of Educa­ tion with regard to diminishing local board autonomy in formulat­ ing policy.♦*» It was noted that the ban on field trips to Toronto has been lifted with some precautions being taken.•»* The board accepted the tender of Advance Millworks and Contract­ ing in the amount of $33,500 for repair work to the general purpose room walls at St. Boniface School. The board authorized the award­ ing of a contract for Computer Software Technical Support for all academic programs within the sys­ tem. This contract is to be effective for one year commencing January 1, 1992.*♦» The board approved the name change for Transportation Contrac­ tor, Keith Montgomery Enterprises Inc. to Wheeler Bus Lines Inc.
