Councillors agree to committee appointments
Bly th Reeve Dave Lee proposed
a tentative list of committee
appointments to council at the first
meeting on December 4.
Following a brief discussion, the
list was approved.
Council representatives to the
Blyth and District Community
Centre Board are Reeve Lee and
Councillor John Elliott.
Councillors Shirley Fyfe and
Robin Lawrie will serve on the
Memorial Hall Board while Mrs.
Fyfe and Councillor Steve Sparling
will represent council on the Fire
Board.
Councillors Elliott and Sparling
have been appointed to the Ceme
tery Board and Reeve Lee, Coun
cillor Elliott and Councillor Lawrie
will serve on the Blyth-Hullett
Landfill Site Committee.
Reeve Lee and Councillor Spar
ling have been appointed to the
Finance Committee, while Council
lors Sparling and Lawrie will serve
on the Blyth Recreation Commit
tee.
Councillor Fyfe will be council's
representative to the Maitland Val
ley Conservation Authority.
All councillors will serve on
Planning and Development, Com
mittee of Adjustment and Roads
and Drains.
Clerk-treasurer Helen Grubb told
council that in making the appoint
ments Reeve Lee's intention was to
keep one former councillor in
place, to keep continuity, while
adding a new one to each commit
tee.
Reeve Lee said that he had
served on the same three commit
tees since coming on council. As a
result there are some committees he
is less informed about than others
and would like to see councillors
rotate on committees in the future.
Of the committees, Reeve Lee
noted that the arena board is the
only one to conduct monthly meet
ings, which can be hectic at times.
He said, however, that he would
like to remain on it for another year
to see some projects completed, but
would let someone else take that
position in the future.
