Many attend Happy Gang’s Christmas dinner The November meeting of Happy Gang Seniors was held at the hall on Wednesday, November 27 at 12:30 p.m. About 80 people sat down to a delicious Christmas din­ ner served by the Londesboro U.C.W. President Harry Lear welcomed everyone. Members sang “O Cana­ da” with Genevieve Allen on the piano. Rev. Paul Ross led in prayer. Tickets were sold on a cushion donated by Helen Lee. This was won by Phyllis Potter. Genevieve played for the singing of carols. Reta Kelland had some draws for door prizes. These were won by Beryl Reid, Hazel Watkins, Marie Krauter and Isabelle Scanlon. The next meeting will be on Jan­ uary 29 when Blyth is invited. Doug Bezzo of Clinton showed a film on Legion help for seniors. Edythe Beacom gave a reading, “Shopping before Christmas”. There were 13 tables of euchre. High lady was Vietta Hoggart; ladies' lone hands, June Fothergill; ladies' low, Janet Hunking; men's high, Gordon McGregor; men's lone hands, Lome Snell; men's low, Lome Dale. Ushers were Kerrie Szusz, Pam Salverda and Kara Lee Potter. This was hymn-sing Sunday. Junior Youth Group will be hold­ ing a Food Drive on Thursday, December 5 from 7 to 8:30 p.m. in Londesboro and Auburn. Please give only non-perishable foods for this drive. There will be an Ecumenical Christmas Service in Knox Church, Auburn on Sunday, December 15 at 7:30 p.m. Sunday School will hold a Bake Sale on Saturday, December 7 at 10 a.m. in the Sunday School rooms. Sunday School members are reminded of White Gift Service next Sunday. Children don't forget the practice at 10 a.m. next Satur­ day, December 7 for White Gift Sunday. Church members take note that there will be a pot luck dinner after church next Sunday, Decem­ ber 8. High lady was Geraldine Dale; high man, Milton Dale. There was an atten­ dance of 14. Archambault were on a bus trip to the Festival of Lights at Niagara Falls, New York last weekend. There were seven tables of euchre at the hall on Friday evening, November 29. Ladies' high was June Fothergill; ladies' lone hands, Estella Adams; ladies' low, Marjorie Anderson; men's high, Gordon McGregor; men's lone hands, Glen Carter; men's low, Reg Lawson. And it’s time we got mad about it. Because they’re hurting their kids — our kids — and they’re hurting you and me. It’s not “ok” that over 80,000 kids are going without more than $400 million in support payments. It’s not “ok” that three-quarters of all family support isn’t being paid the way it should be. It’s not “ok” that over $ 140 million of our tax dollars have gone to families who were forced to turn to social assistance because their support payments were not being made. The Ontario Government’s new Family Support Plan will introduce automatic wage deduction of sup­ port payments, and specify to whom and when they apply. Because children shouldn’t have to be told that daddy’s not paying family support.
