Blyth People New team The new executive of the Blyth and District Optimist Club was sworn in Wednesday night. Members of the new leadership team include: (front row, left to right) Pat Brigham, first vice- president, Elaine Brown, director, Lance Bearss, director: Fred deBoer, director; (back) Brenda Young, president; Alan Young, secretary-treasurer; Jim Phelan, second vice- president, Jeff Peters, director and Murray Siertsema, director. Absent for the picture was Laurie Sparling, director. Blyth Council briefs Hall agreement reached with Festival Edward Quinn, Dennis Holway, and Forest and Lois Whit- tard from Trinity Anglican Church, Blyth attended the ordination of Rev. E. Paul Acton into the priest­ hood of the Anglican Church Nov. 29. The ceremony took place at Trinity Church in Cambridge. Fol­ lowing the service a reception was held in the church's parish hall. There were six tables in play Nov. 25 when the weekly party was held at Blyth Memorial Hall. Mae Ritchie and Lloyd Appleby had the high scores. Vera Hesselwood and Ted East had the low scores. Mar­ jory East and Nora Kelly had the most lone hands. Mary Nesbitt won the special prize. The team of Mae Ritchie and Wayne McDougall won top spot in Mixed Dart play at Blyth Legion last week. Mary Ross and Bill Nethery were second. Debbie McDougall was high lady and Kevin Ritchie, high man. Ken Siertsema won the 50/50 draw. There were five tables in play Nov. 27 at the weekly lost heir card party at Memorial Hall Nov. 27. Gene Snell and Alma McCallum had the high scores. Rcta Blake and Effie McCall had the low scores. John Blake won the special prize. Tonight's game (Dec. 4) will be the last game before Christmas. Agreement has finally been reached between village council and Blyth Centre for the Arts about sharing the costs of operating Memorial Hall and the public areas of the new addition. The agreement was reached fol­ lowing a marathon session Friday, Nov. 22 between council and repre­ sentatives of the Centre which runs the Blyth Festival and built the new building, authorization to sign the agreement was given at the regular council meeting Nov. 26. The complicated agreement assigns heating and cooling costs on the basis of the amount of space used by the public versus the amounts used by the Festival. For instance the lobby way of the south wing will be paid for by the village while most of the rest of the build­ ing is paid for by the festival. The Festival was encouraged to set up a fee structure for rental of dressing rooms in the north wing and the control booth for lighting and sound. Council also agreed to pick up nave the cost of servicing the heat pumps that serve Memorial Hall itself (not those also heating and cooling the Festival's administra­ tion building). The length of the Festival's lease on the building was unsettled, how­ ever.
