In the first game of the season the team scored a 5-2 win over Stephen Township in Huron Park. Jeff Cowan led the way with four goals, including three unassist ed goals in the third period. On Nov. 2, the team scored twice in the first period, then hung on for a tight 2-1 win over Mitchell. Michael Haggitt and Dar ryl Bromley scored the first-period goals then Mitchell came back to get their lone goal in the third. In a game Nov. 14, the team outscored Hensail 8-4 on home ice. Michael Courtney opened the scoring for Blyth with an assist from Michael Haggitt. After Hen sail had tied the score and then gone ahead, Courtney again scored from Amanda Anderson with just 39 seconds left in the period to tie the score. Early in the second Michael Haggitt put Blyth ahead to stay when he was set up by Michael Ansley and Trevor Wilson. Aman da Anderson extended the lead with a goal from Michaels Haggitt and Courtney. Hensail got one back but Darryl Bromley restored the two- goal lead with 26 seconds left in the period when he scored from Jamie Black and Jeff Cowan. Hensall narrowed the gap early in the third but six seconds later Bromley again scored from Jeff Cowan to widen the lead. After that it was all Blyth as Michael Haggitt scored two more goals with Aman da Anderson assisting on the first. On Nov. 15 the team scored an 8-3 win in Bayfield. The team got a fast start as Darryl Bromley scored from Jeff Cowan to tie the score with just 32 seconds gone in the first period. Bayfield came back to tie the game before the period ended. Jeff Cowan started the five-goals-in- four-minutes onslaught with a goal from Corey Shannon. Just 26 sec onds later it was Michael Courtney from Michael Haggitt and Amanda Anderson. Just over a minute later Chris Carter scored from Darryl Bromley and 30 seconds after that it was Michael Haggitt on an unas sisted goal. Amanda Anderson fin ished off the offensive with a goal from Michaels Haggitt and Court ney. Bayfield scored twice before the second period ended but that was as close as they got. In the third period Michael Courtney scored from Amanda Anderson, then Michael Haggitt scored an unassisted goal to end the scoring. Belgrave Novices tie Huron Park Belgrave Novices skated to a 1- 1 draw when they visited Huron Park Nov. 16. Craig Marks opened the scoring for Belgrave in the first but Huron Park came back to tie the score and the teams played scoreless for the rest of the way. Kyle Anderson in goal made good saves when tested but his teammates limited the number of shots he had to face. The two teams were evenly matched but Belgrave had a couple of near misses, ring ing shots of the goal posts. Belgrave's next game is Dec. 1 at 2:30 in Goderich. The Brussels Bulls picked up three of a possible four points in two games this weekend and remain in first place in the Western Junior C standings. The Bulls improved their record to 11-1-2, but Hanover won Friday night so their record is now 9-1 -1. The Bulls went into Grand Val ley for a rare Saturday night game and skated out with a come-from- behind 4-4 tie. The Bulls had a 3-2 lead heading into the third, but Grand Valley came out firing. Darryl Handcock tied the game five minutes into the third. Then with Corey McKee in the penalty box, the Harvesters needed just five sec onds on the power play to take a 4- 3 lead. Chris Williamese buried a pass from Handcock. The Bulls tied it with 3:27 left in the game, as Jeff McKee took a pass from Ted Sills and slipped it through the legs of the Harvester's goalie. Coach Scott Pettigrew says, “Grand Valley is tough at home and gets pumped up for the big teams. They beat Hanover at home and have played very well against us three times this year. I thought Sam Kulafofski played a strong game which is important to our offence.” On Sunday night the struggling I would like to thank the voters of Grey Township for their support at the polls. Helen Cullen Wingham Ironmen were no match for the high-powered Bulls offence. Brussels pounded the visitors 9-1. Greg Vader led the way with a pair of goals, his brother Scott had a goal and two assists, Ted Sills, Todd Norman, Joe Walker, Jamie Scott, Greg McNevan and Sam Kulafofski rounded out the scoring. Kulafofski's goal came after a great defensive effort by defenceman Jeff Potvin who broke up a great scor ing chance for Wingham. Corey McKee, the new Brussels captain, had four assists. Coach Scott Pettigrew says, “We needed a game like that. I thought it was the best 60 minutes of hockey we played all month. Even though we have been winning we couldn't put three solid periods together. It would have been nice to get the shutout but Fortune got his skate caught in a rut and stumbled or I think we would have had it.” From the Bulls' Pen: The Bulls will be at home for two games this weekend. The Mount Forest Patriots are in Brussels at 9 p.m. on Friday night. It's the first meeting of the season for these teams. Then on Sunday at 2 p.m. Acton comes to town for an interlock game. The Bulls will once again be hosting a dance New Year's Eve. Tickets are available from any executive member. Thank You to everyone for their support at the polls. As a trustee of the Huron County Board of Education I will continue to serve to the best of my ability. Don McDonald YOUR APPLIANCE AND HOME - — ENTERTAINMENT CENTRE 291-3310
