The November meeting of the Auburn Horticultural Society was held on Wednesday, November 13 at 8 p.m. at the Community Hall with a good attendance. The presi­ dent Erma Cartwright presided. O Canada was sung with Mar­ jorie McDougall as pianist. Erma Cartwright opened the meeting with a poem entitled “Stories Leaves Tell”. The minutes of the previous meeting were read by the secretary, Dorothy Grange, and approved as read. Elliott Lapp gave the treasurer's report. Dorothy Grange and Maureen Bean gave their reports of District 8 meeting that was held at Durham. Annual meeting is to be held on January 8 and the executive is to decide on dinner or lunch. The photo contest was judged by everyone putting tickets in a bag for their choice. The meeting then was turned over to the program committee Anne Vincent, Brenda Empey and Joyce Bean. Joyce had a contest on “Name Your Flowers”. The hall was decorated for the Christmas tradition and Anne Vin­ cent had a table of decorations which were interesting ideas and anyone could buy a bag containing all the articles to make these. These were trims for trees and parcels, etc. She also had a hanging with lit­ tle gifts of 24 - one to open each day before Christmas. These are great for children, nursing homes or hospital. Brenda Empey showed a Parenting Group The Auburn Parenting Group are meeting on Monday, November 25 and December 22. There will be a discussion of Christmas Crafts for children, games, street proofing, exercising in winter, S.T.E.P. and more. The group meets at the Aubum Missionary Church at 9:30 a.m. Public Health Nurse Cathy Ryan will be attending the Decem­ ber 2 meeting. All are welcome. For more details call Gail at 526- 7779. < 6 tables at euchre There were six tables in play at the Aubum euchre party held on Tuesday, November 12 at the Com­ munity Hall. Results were: high lady, Evelyn Christensen; low lady, Mildred Lawlor; high man, Carmen Brind­ ley; low man, Len Shobbrook; lucky chair, Lou Issac. Euchre parties are held every Tuesday evening at 8 p.m. at the Community Hall. 66 % turn out to vote in E. Wawanosh continued from page 10 Fulton led with nine, followed closely by Mr. Gaunt with eight and Ms Culbert with seven. Ms McNee had two. At poll one Mr. Gaunt had 122, Ms Culbert 50, Ms Fulton 39 and Ms McNee 27. Mr. Gaunt had a strong lead at the sec­ ond poll with 136 votes, followed by Ms Fulton with 65, Ms Culbert with 37 and Ms McNee with 27. Voter turnout at the polls was 66.4 percent voting for reeve, 63 percent for council and 61.4 per­ cent for school board. Christmas Tree made from teasels with lights on and sprayed green. Some tried their hands at this. Everything was interesting and so well done. Joyce Bean took care of the photo contest and had photos dis­ played so lovely and a lot of work went into this, there were several people won prizes on this. Tickets were drawn for door prizes donated by Lois Haines, prizes went to Brenda Farr, Lou Issac, Ruth Jardin and Martha Daer. Queen and Grace were sung and a lovely lunch was served by the committee in charge, Nancy Slater, Shari Cartwright and Jane Stryker and a social time was enjoyed. 4H News BY SARAH CHRISTIE The Auburn Milk Manica's held their 4H Achievement Night at the Aubum Hall on Thursday, Novem­ ber 14. Members did ice cream questions and talked about what meetings and activities they liked best. They also played a game of Bingo with milk facts. They learned about cheese and milk through displays put on by Suzanne Schultz, Pauline Huizinga and Amanda Hickey. Everyone had the proper require­ ments and received credit for this ! 4H club. A special mention goes to Cheryl Lapp, Sarah Christie and Martha Huizinga who completed the six club award. Cheryl Lapp completed her seventh club along with Sarah Christie and Martha Huizinga had just completed her eighth club. Alvin McLellan A real achievement Three 4-H members were honoured for completing six 4-H clubs at the Achievement night for the Milk Makes a Difference 4-H club in Auburn Thursday night. WMS meets The November meeting of the Presbyterian W.M.S. was held at the home of Erma Cartwright. The president Martha Daer opened the meeting and welcomed all present. The devotional period was taken by Lillian Letherland. The scripture portion was read alternately. The meditation was “Our Bitter Tears”. “In Flanders Fields” was also read. Martha Daer had the Study and read about Remembrance. Erma Cartwright had a reading on “Late November”. Frances Clark read about a hymn for St. Andrew's Day. Martha also gave a reading. The closing prayer was given. The Christmas meeting will be at the home of Frances Clark. People Mrs. Tom Jardin spent a few days with family in Kitchener and attended the graduation of Julia Armour from the Ontario Police College at Aylmer. Congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. Tom Lawlor who celebrated their 45th anniversary on Monday, November 18. THANK YOU To everyone who supported me at the polls and helped during my cam­ paign.
