Brussels gets reduced fire area An agreement will be signed next month setting out new boundaries of service by the Brussels Fire Department in Morris township. Fire Chief Howard Bernard and Councillor Bruce Hahn reported to Brussels Council Monday night on their meeting with Morris officials and the chiefs of the Blyth and Wingham fire departments to work out acceptable procedures. The meeting had been organized after concerns about overlapping cover age between the departments. Blyth is the department of record for the southern part of Morris while Wingham is iu cover the northern part but Brussels covers an area surrounding the village. Under the new agreement Brussels will be the first department called in and area 2.5 miles to the south, north and west of the village. "We don’t have the equipment to fight fires out of town," said Councillor Hahn. Unlike Blyth and Wingham depart ments, Brussels doesn't have a water tanker. Within the 2.5 mile area, Councillor Hahn said, "we're probably 10 minutes closer than the other fire departments." Councillor Dave Hastings said that Brussels Department’s job was to wet something down in a hurry or get someone out of a burning building but turn over the long term fighting to the Blyth of Wingham brigades and get back to Brussels to protect the village. »T®.. $Q 00 TB-II IDCRAVC Place your classified ad in person (pre-paid) andb “ I || Y you'll enjoy a base-rate of omy $3.00 for the first 20 words
