This action in front of the opposition's goal, during the Brussels Bulls game against Fergus on Sunday, resembles a football match, as players tumble over the fallen goalie. There was a good deal of action at the Fergus end as the home team came on strong defeating the visitors by a score of 6 — 1. Belgrave Novices win first game Bulls split weekend action Belgrave Novices got their sea­ son off to a good start Saturday as they defeated the Goderich 1 team 6-1. Goderich opened the scoring in the first after 33 seconds but Bel­ grave tied it before the period ended as Aaron Himmelman scored from Tim Robinson. Justin Campbell scored from Tim Robinson in the second to give Belgrave a lead it would never lose. FOR BRUSSELS P.U.C. In the third, Justin Campbell scored his second goal of the game from Tim Robinson to round out the scoring. Aaron Bakker played a strong game in the net. The Brussels Bulls and Hanover Barons neck and neck ... battling for top spot. The Barons moved into a tie with the Bulls Fri­ day night with a 5-3 win. Jeremy Franks had two goals to lead the Barons while Corey McKee had a pair for the Bulls. Brussels took the early lead on a powerplay goal by Corey McKee but Hanover came roaring back. It was 4-1 before the Bulls were able to regroup and despite a strong third period were not able to even the score. Bulls Coach Scott Pettigrew says, “I was a bit disappointed that in an important game we did not come up with one of our best efforts. On the other hand they got a couple of bounces that hurt us. One goal was off our defenceman's skate and another shot bounced off a Hanover player standing beside the net. The key for us now is to play consistent hockey and improve the mental aspect of our game.” Corey McKee had two goals in a losing cause for the Bulls, Ted Sills had the other Brussels marker. Sills' goal was a shorthanded break­ away that surprised everyone. Steve Fritz returned to the lineup with three assists. Greg Vader had his first goal of the season. Jeff McKee, Ted Sills and Joe Walker also scored for Brus­ sels. Coach Scott Pettigrew says “I was really happy with our power­ play. We scored three goals on four powerplay chances. We were read­ ing the situation much better.”.
