Brussels Bulls' netminder Trevor Fortune makes a point-blank save off a Walkerton Black
Hawk forward during Sunday’s home-opener at BMG arena. Fortune was unbeatable in the 7-
0 shutout and has allowed only one goal in two games this season.
The Brussels Bulls remain
unbeaten in Western Junior "C"
action. The Bulls won their third
game of the season with a 7-0 win
over the Walkerton Blackhawks in
the Bulls' home opener on Sunday
at the Brussels, Morris and Grey
Community Centre.
Once again the Bulls did an
excellent job on defence. Goalie
Trevor Fortune recorded the
shutout and has now allowed only
one goal in two games. The Bulls
also killed off seven powerplay
opportunities by the Hawks.
Brussels opened the scoring with
a goal by Jamie Scott less than two

picked up assists. The scoring for
the Bulls was spread out with seven
different players picking up goals.
Fourteen year-old-rookie Todd
Norman fired his third of the sea
son, a shorthanded effort. Veteran
Steve Fritz, playing in his first reg
ular season game because of a bout
with mono, picked up a goal. Brett
Long, Jeff McKee, Jeff Coulter,
and Sam Kulafofski also scored for
the Bulls. In three games the Bulls
have outscored their opponents 28
to 5.
Coach Scott Pettigrew said
“Walkerton has a very young team
and that inexperience showed.
However, I think they will give a
lot of teams trouble this year
because they never quit. Our

backchecking is starting to improve
but we have to work on our
forechecking and powerplay.”
The Bulls have a big test coming
up this weekend. Saturday night the
club travels to Grand Valley to play
the Harvesters. Grand Valley has a
tie against Wingham and a win
against Goderich and is especially
tough at home. Then Sunday after
noon the Bulls entertain the
Hanover Barons. Coach Pettigrew
said “Hanover has not lost yet and
it looks like they will be the team
to beat again this year. It will be
interesting to see how we match up
against them.”
Hanover eliminated the Bulls last
season in the league finals and went
on to win the Ontario Champion
ship.
