S ports Overloads start season with win over Wingham Brussels Bulls' netminder Trevor Fortune makes a point-blank save off a Walkerton Black Hawk forward during Sunday’s home-opener at BMG arena. Fortune was unbeatable in the 7- 0 shutout and has allowed only one goal in two games this season. The Brussels Bulls remain unbeaten in Western Junior "C" action. The Bulls won their third game of the season with a 7-0 win over the Walkerton Blackhawks in the Bulls' home opener on Sunday at the Brussels, Morris and Grey Community Centre. Once again the Bulls did an excellent job on defence. Goalie Trevor Fortune recorded the shutout and has now allowed only one goal in two games. The Bulls also killed off seven powerplay opportunities by the Hawks. Brussels opened the scoring with a goal by Jamie Scott less than two minutes into the contest. The scoring for the Bulls was spread out with seven different players picking up goals. Fourteen year-old-rookie Todd Norman fired his third of the sea­ son, a shorthanded effort. Veteran Steve Fritz, playing in his first reg­ ular season game because of a bout with mono, picked up a goal. Brett Long, Jeff McKee, Jeff Coulter, and Sam Kulafofski also scored for the Bulls. In three games the Bulls have outscored their opponents 28 to 5. Coach Scott Pettigrew said “Walkerton has a very young team and that inexperience showed. However, I think they will give a lot of teams trouble this year because they never quit. Saturday night the club travels to Grand Valley to play the Harvesters. Grand Valley has a tie against Wingham and a win against Goderich and is especially tough at home. Then Sunday after­ noon the Bulls entertain the Hanover Barons. Coach Pettigrew said “Hanover has not lost yet and it looks like they will be the team to beat again this year. The Overloads with Rusty Skate Blades and Looking Slightly Over- Weight edged the Wingham club 7- 5. Radfords built an early 2-0 lead but Wingham bounced back to score four unanswered goals to take the lead. The team traded goals in the last period and Radfords added an empty net goal to seal the victory. Goal scorers for the Radford Over­ loads were Barney Stewart with four, Tony Van Bakkel, Doug Scrimgeour and Wayne Mc­ Dougall. Ron Ritchie and Harry Wilson provided strong goaltend­ ing for the Overloads. Next game will be Wednesday at 8:30 p.m. in Blyth against Hensall Oldtimers.
