Blyth draw winner must have suitcase in hand Farce in flight Member of the Royal Canadian Air Farce taped two episodes of their CBC Radio comedy show in Blyth Thursday night and helped raise money for the recent expansion of Memorial Hall at the same time. Members of the Air Farce from sound effects technician Anton Szabo (background) to Don Ferguson, John Morgan, Roger Abbott and Luba Goy had a capacity audience in stitches for more than two hours. Review Air Farce doesn ft bomb BY KEITH ROULSTON Here's an assignment: how do you review a radio show performed before a live audience. With plea sure. In fact with a sore side from laughing so much and a pack of Kleenex for wiping up the tears of laughter. A full house at Blyth Memorial Hall had plenty to laugh at Thurs day night when The Royal Canadi an Air Farce taped two shows for upcoming programs on CBC radio. Anybody who wonders if anybody listens to the taxpayer-supported radio service in these parts would have gotten a surprise from this audience that obviously knew all about the Air Farce antics. One audience member was heard being surprised that so many other people knew about the group. Hopefully most there did know what to expect. The humour is just risque enough to have offended some lender ears. The show lost nothing for being intended for a radio audience. In fact it is the radio audience that will miss some of the delicious visual antics of Roger Abbott, Don Fergu son, Luba Goy and John Morgan. Particularly Ferguson who brought the house down with his imitation of Prime Minister Brian Mulroney, managing even to rearrange his face to recreate the famous Mul roney jaw. John Morgan was also a crowd A New Spirit of Giving A iution.il program t«» cikmiragc giving and volunteering favourite with his phone-in caller Mike from Clinton who is so hesi tant he never does get to say any thing, his funeral director with innovative marketing techniques and his Charlie, the collector of antique milking machines. The laughter started even before the radio taping did as Roger Abbott warmed up the audience with his own stand-up comedy rou tine, telling of the adventures of travelling around the country to tape radio shows and hitting peo ple's funnybones with off-beat views on today's news, like the fact fairy tales are being changed to "alternative lifestyles" tales. The balding Abbott also referred to himself as "follicularly chal lenged". Adding to the comedy was the sound effects of Anton Szabo, dressed in tux while he uses various articles to make realisitic noises (like a squeeze ketchup bottle filled with water and a bucket to make the sound of milk squirting into a pail). The first of the two shows taped was heard on CBC this past week end. The second show will be heard Saturday at 10:35 a.m. on CBC Stereo, 100.5 FM, London and on Sunday at 1:08 on CBL 740 from Toronto or 93.5 on the FM dial from London.
