THE CITIZEN, WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 9, 1991. ’IJn-Bull-ievable" BY ROSS MACLEOD Corey McKee nine points, Ted Sills seven points, Todd Norman six points ... and the list goes on and on and on... The Brussels Bulls had a banner weekend picking up road wins in Goderich and Orangeville. The Bulls filled the scoresheet Friday night sinking the Goderich Sailors 15-1. Rookie Ted Sills led the attack with three goals and four assists. Linemate Corey McKee also had seven points, with a goal and six assists and the third mem ber of the line Jeff McKee had six points, three goals and three assists. Fourteen-year-old rookie Todd Norman continues to impress, pick ing up two goals and had a hand in two others. Aaron Duckworth ruined an otherwise perfect day for Trevor Fortune with a breakaway goal late in the first. Coach Scott Pettigrew says, "We started a little slow but in the sec ond we got on quite a roll. I was a bit surprised by the big score because we have been putting a lot of emphasis on defence. What was really nice to see was how we stayed out of the penalty box." Sunday was a different story. The Bulls built a three-goal lead in the second and then hung on for a 6-4 win over Orangeville Crushers. Greg McNevan paced the Bulls with a hat-trick. Corey McKee, New set up for senior hockey The WOAA Senior hockey pro gram, under the guidance of new chairman Clark Pollock, enters the 1991-92 season with three new teams and a new divisional format for league and playoff competition. Gone are the Wellesley Mer chants who, unable to push through rule changes on player eligibility, walked out of die scheduling meet ing. The Monkton Wildcats have ceased operation due to a lack of players. In their place are new entries from Tiverton, Mildmay and Harriston bringing the league total to 18 teams. Also gone are the geographical north and south groupings as well as the A-B-C team classifications for playoffs. Instead the WOAA has divided into two separate leagues: Senior A and Senior B. Basically the Senior A is an open classification while the Senior B teams must have a home town pop Sam Kulafofski and an empty net- ter by Jeff McKee rounded out the scoring. The Crushers, as usual were led by Jamie Litt. He had a goal and three assists. Goalie Jeff Roy made the difference, stopping 39 of the 43 shots he faced. The veteran netminder made a couple of key saves in the first period to keep the game tied at one after one. Coach Pettigrew says, "We let them back into the game in the third period but we showed some character by pulling off the win. You have to be happy anytime you can take two points from Orangeville in their own rink. The line of Greg McNevan, Todd Nor man and Scott Vader are really starting to click." The Bulls' home opener is this Sunday at 2 p.m. The Walkerton Blackhawks will be in town. Coach Pettigrew notes, "Walkerton is a lot better hockey team than last year. They played well against Hanover in their opener and beat Grand Val ley quite handily so it should be a good game." NOTES: Centre Steve Fritz and rookie winger Adam Rogers did not play in either game on the weekend . Fritz is recovering from mono and Rogers has a sprained ankle and is on crutches. Defence man Jason Baier could not finish the Orangeville game because of a hamstring pull suffered in a fastball game earlier in the day. The idea of two loops is to pro tect and provide competitive hock ey for the smaller centres who want to use strictly local talent. The Senior B or homebrew league consists of Lions Head, Tiverton, Ripley, Lucknow, Teeswater, Mildmay, Dundalk and Grand Valley. The Senior A league with 10 teams returning has been divided into north and south divisions with interlocking play. Wiarton, Kincar dine, and Durham will be joined in the north by Harriston and Palmer ston while Arthur, Drayton, Milver ton and Tavistock join Brussels in the south. Each team plays everyone in their own group four times, plus a continued on page 18 BRUSSELS LIVESTOCK F1 Division of Gamble & Rogers Ltd.
