On August 14 the Londesboro
4H club travelled to the Hullett
Provincial Wildlife Area.
Members met Rob Gibson the
deputy conservation officer. From
him they learned about the different
kinds of ducks and put leg bands on
most of them. They also emptied
some of the 30-50 woodduck nest
ing boxes. They had to get to these
by canoe which proved to be a lot
of fun. The day ended with a barbe
cue lunch.
On August 29 the Londesboro
4H club went down to the Maitland
River behind Thelma Dougherty's.
They waded through the river find
ing crayfish, fish and beaver dams.
As they waded they also picked up
the garbage. They didn't happen to
see the beavers themselves but it
was interesting seeing what they
built their dams with. It was such a
hot day, the cooling water felt very
refreshing.
