Brussels Council briefs Tenders called for new sidewalks Tenders will be called for the construction of up to three more blocks of new sidewalk in Brussels this summer. Brussels councillors decided at their Aug. 6 meeting that they would tender for the work rather than stretch the village workforce to the breaking point. "These guys just haven't got the time," Reeve Gordon Workman said, referring to the village staff. Two blocks of John St. and one block of Albert St. will be included in the tenders. Those tendering will be asked to tender on a per-block basis so that the village can cut . back if necessary to meet the bud get. The tender of H. TenPas Con struction was accepted for replace ment of windows on the main floor of the Brussels library building. The tender price, at $6,490 was considerably lower than the other tenders received. A letter is to be sent to the owner of an abandoned house to say that the village council wants the house repaired. The owner is to be told that if repairs aren't made, council will ask the house be condemned. ♦♦♦ Clerk-treasurer Donna White his van for the people attending Brussels Frying fish Tom Howell fries up some fish Legion's annual Fish Fry .
