Unfortunately, there are many physically challenged individuals and their families who cannot afford any kind of holiday. Andy is a physically challenged young man with cerebral palsy. He lives his life in a wheelchair. Just like every­ one else, Andy needs a change of scenery and some rest and relax­ ation. Donations to the ‘Give Them A Break’ fundraising program will allow Andy and others like him from throughout Ontario to enjoy a wonderful vacation at Participation Lodge. This urgent appeal is for direct cash donations, as well as for on going fundraising events such as garage sales, fashion shows, festi­ vals, concerts, and other events by schools, churches, service clubs, sports groups, social clubs and car­ Belgrave Squirts lose game to Fordwich Belgrave Squirts dropped a 16-6 game to Fordwich in Tri-County Squirt action Thursday in Belgrave. Participation Lodge is a regis­ tered non-profit corporation opened in 1982 to improve lhe quality of life for physically challenged peo­ ple. The Lodge is a 25-acre retreat that can accommodate 21 disabled guests, 12 permanent residents and two respite care rooms. It is designed with wheelchairs in mind and more than adequately meets the increased requirements of physical­ ly challenged youth and adults. Over a mile of conveniently paved pathways connect the Lodge to an adjacent family campground and the shore of Robson Lake. ‘Give Them A Break’ will be a year-round fundraising campaign to meet the growing needs of physi­ cally challenged people and their families. Several members of lhe congre­ gation plan to attend a Church Con­ ference in North Manchester, Indiana this week. “Kids Comer” proved to be quite successful again this year with an average attendance of 121 children aged Kindergarten to Grade 6. “Kids Comer” is a Vacation Bible School which is put on annually by lhe community churches and is held at lhe Mennonite Church. Offerings this year will provide 100 Bibles for Egyptian children and safe drinking water for a village in Haiti. On Wednesday, some of the Guest minister at Blyth United Greeters at Blyth United Church on Sunday, July 21 were Fred and Mary Howson. Ushers were John and Agnes Wharton and Doug Howatt. George Cowan opened the ser­ vice with lhe call to worship and the hymn "Immortal, Invisible God" was sung. The prayer of approach and responsive reading were read. The children’s story was read and lhe hymn "Can a Little Child Like Me" was sung. The scripture was selected verses in Proverbs 15 and 16. The hymn "Wonderful Words of Life" was sung. Mr. Cowan's sermon was "From Here and There" and concluded with a solo, "Trusting Jesus". The service closed with prayer, the hymn "Lord Speak to Me", the benediction and a choral response. Next Sunday Mr. Cowan will speak on "God Speaks to us through Ruth" and on Aug. 4, there will be baptism.
