UCW breaks for summer
The June meeting of Londesboro
U.C.W. was held on Monday
evening, June 17 at the church at 8
p.m. /
Members opened the meeting
with "The Purpose". Minutes of the
April meeting were read and
approved. Dorothy Tamblyn gave
the financial report.
Correspondence was read from
Jack Snell, Clare Vincent, the Olive
Gaunt family and Doug Dolmage.
A donation was received from Mar
ion Snell.
Kittie MacGregor spoke on e day
at Camp Menesetung and Spring
Event at Varna in April.
October 21st will be the Fall
Rally at Londesboro Church for
Huron East in the evening. There
will be no U.C.W. in July and
August. Next meeting will be in
September.
Mary Peel conducted the wor
ship. Hymn 386 was repeated in
unison. Mary read a piece on vio
lence and pollution. Scripture was
James’ first letter. Hymn 387 was
read in unison. Mary read a piece
on gardens and asked those who
read "Observer" and "Mandate"
and "Upper Room" what they liked
best and read first. The meeting
closed with the Benediction. Grace
was sung. Lunch was served by
Bernice Norman, Dorothy Tam
blyn, Margaret Wright and Hazel
Watkins.
People
We welcome Bob and Anne Pot
ter and family from Toronto to our
community. They have moved into
the former Mary Longman house
and we hope they like living here.

Hullett approves
drain repair
Hullett council accepted the peti
tion from Larry Johnston and oth
ers for improvements to a portion
of the Wagner Drainage Works at
its meeting of June 18. R.J. Bum
side and Associates have been
appointed as project engineers.
Ron Gross and Joe Gibson were
named as council's voting delegates
to the Association of Municipal
Officers conferences.
Council approved a request from
the Auburn Ladies Softball team
Club donates
to handicapped
The June meeting of Cheerio
Club was held at the home of Estel-
la Adams on Wednesday, June 19.
Estella welcomed everyone. She
read a poem "Sitting Alone in an
Old Rocking Chair". Minutes of the
May meeting and the treasurer's
report were read.
Roll call was answered by 11
members and two visitors. Laura
had a reading. It was moved to give
for a ball tournament with a liquor
license. A portion of the proceeds
from the tournament are to be
donated to the Auburn ball park.
Several tile drain loan applica
tions were approved subject to
availability of funds and compli
ance with township by-laws. They
are for Lot 28, Concession 8, East
Part Lot 27, Concession 13, Lot 26,
Concession 12, Part Lot 26, Con
cession 13, and Lot 33, Concession
3.
a $50 donation to the retarded chil
dren.
Estella read "Strange Coinci
dences". Laura read "The Forest".
A draw donated by Beth Knox was
won by Margaret Good. Collection
and draw money were taken up.
The July meeting will be Group II.
Estella had a contest on shamrocks.
Cards were played. Lunch was
served by Estella, Ora and Laura.

Cheryl Bromley, daughter of
Bill and Irene of Londesboro,
has successfully completed her
Business Administration and
Materials Management Program
at Conestoga College, Guelph.
Graduation was held at Kitch
ener, June 22, 1991. Cheryl Is
presently employed as Material
Handling Co-ordinator at Vuteq
Canada Inc., Woodstock, Ont.

Please". A solo, "Living For Jesus"
was sung by Richard Bcrgsma.
