First all members went to the Sinclair bam to judge and give rea­ sons on a pen of gills. They then went inside and Presi­ dent Amy Thomas started the meet­ ing with the 4-H Pledge. Secretary' Darrell Bergsma then read the min­ utes of the last meeting. Leader Joan Bergsma then discussed the make up of feed and the importance of water. Area women attend conference Huron residents attended an his­ toric precedent setting conference held in Toronto on on June 10-12, at the Toronto Hilton Hotel. Jean Young of Town and Country Homemakers, Rosemary Arm­ strong of the Huron Day Centre for the Homebound and Gloria work­ man of the Wingham and Area Seniors Day Centre and along with members of staff and volunteers were among the ^60 volunteers, consumers and service providers from across Ontario in attendance. For the first time in Ontario's his­ tory, three provincial associations will merge. Meal on Wheels of Ontario, the Ontario Association of Visiting Homemakers Services and the Ontario Home Support Associa lion will set in motion detailed plans to form one organization. The new organization will be called the Ontario Community Support Asso­ ciation. The Minister of Community and Social Services, Zanana Akandc, addressed the conference immedi atcly after she had announced in the Ontario Legislature plans for the redirection of Ontario's long term care services. The delegates from the Home Support programs will be signifi­ cantly enhanced. The conference was opened by Elaine Ziemba, Minister of Citizenship.
