BY BRENT KENNEDY RESOURCES MANAGEMENT SPECIALIST, HURON COUNTY The Huron County Conservation Club will be holding a twilight crop scouting meeting al the farm of Bruce and Harriet Shillinglaw's. The meeting is scheduled to start at 7 p.m. on Thursday, June 20. A broad range of topics will be cov­ ered at the mccling. Alan McCallum, Soil and Crop Advisor with OMAF, will discuss the current status of the province's new soil nitrate test. An equipment demonstration fea­ turing no-till nitrogen applicators will be run along with a discussion of fertility placement in conserva­ tion. Tom Hartman from Centralia College of Agricultural Technolo­ gy, will discuss what to look for when scouting your fields. During this session he will pass on a few tips on how to properly diagnose field problems. All interested parties are invited to participate in this lour. On July 18, 1991 the Conserva­ tion Club is planning on attending the Michigan State Agricultural Exposition. This is a one-day tour. The theme of the expo revolves around residue management and reduced tillage.
