Residents of the Townships of Grey, Howick, Morris, Turnberry, East Wawanosh, West Wawanosh, the Village of Brussels, and the Town of Wingham are invited to a meeting to discuss local community development in north Huron. The meeting has been scheduled for: Wednesday, June 5,1991 at 7:30 p.m. in the Gymnasium of the F. E. Madill Secondary School in Wingham. Over the past two years, the Department of Planning and Development has been examining the feasibility of setting up "community development areas" within the County. The purpose of these areas is to assist in co-operative economic development. One area is called the "North Huron Community Development Area”. This notice serves as an open invitation to all interested individuals to attend the introductory meeting of the North Huron Community Development Area. The purpose of the meeting is to introduce the community development approach in Huron County and to discuss the feasibility of establishing a community development committee for north Huron. Such a committee would be comprised of local councillors, municipal staff and interested citizens. The meeting will discuss the community development opportunities shared by the participating municipalities. Aux. gives $5,000 to hospital The May 6 meeting of the Clin ton Public Hospital Auxiliary opened with the auxiliary prayer, followed by a warm welcome from president Leona Towton. The auxiliary motto for this year is "Fun, Friendship, Funding". A cheque in the amount of $5,000 was presented to the hospital to help with the cost of new ultra sound equipment. The committee reports were given, showing a busy and success ful month. Donna Wood reported that the Spring Thaw was a huge success, although no final figure of the funds raised is available. Two volunteers are needed: one is an assistant for Patti Munnings to photograph newborns at the hospi tal; and the other job is a teen vol unteer co-ordinator. Both of these positions are rewarding for mem bers wishing to become involved. The teen volunteer ceremony will be held on May 26 at Wesley- Willis United Church. It was decided that the Auxiliary will not have booths at the Clinton and Bayfield fairs this year. Members heard a report on the Region 2 Conference which was held in Stratford on April 29. Many new ideas were exchanged, and interesting speakers were heard. Sharon Veitch presented a "Western" theme skit inviting the Auxiliary’ members to her home for the June meeting, and pot luck lun cheon. Everyone was invited to come in western costume if they wish, and to bring their dishes, lawn chairs and a dish for the pot luck meal. The location is at 70 Shipley Street, and the time is 10 a.m. on June 3. Friday, May 17 was the Tag Day for the Clinton Public Hosptial Auxiliary.
