KINDERGARTEN
by Julie Elston
The students in kindergarten are
working on nursery rhymes. They
read the books, make pictures,
make or do puzzles and do other
activities. This class is full of excit
ing adventures for the students.
They are also writing in journals
and learning the alphabet. There are
also two other special activities that
they have experienced. The Part
ners in Excellence program went
well for this grade and they earned
the Early World of Learning Kit.
The other activity is actually a visi
tor - Tanya Boonstoppel, the Dairy
Princess. We are very glad to have
her visiting our school.
GRADE ONE
The grade one class visited the
London Regional Children's Muse
um on Thursday. Samantha Gibson
liked the bad guy "Boo, Bad Bart"
in the puppet show. Paul Dawson
liked the old fashioned school.
Travis Hopper bought "fools'
gold" at the museum, and Becky
Nethery liked the Muppet poster
she bought. Overall, everybody
really enjoyed the trip.
GRADE TWO
The grade two's had a big sur
prise when Tyler Fenton's mom
brought a baby turkey, two baby
ducks and a baby chicken to visit
their classroom. The students really
enjoyed watching and petting the
animals. Next week they will be
starting a new unit on Pioneers.
They will be learning plenty before
their trip in June.
GRADE TWO-THREE
In math the grade two-threes
have been measuring things inside
and outside their classroom as they
are discussing the metric system.
They have also been getting in
shape for Track and Field.
GRADE THREE-FOUR
The grade three-fours have been
doing origami. They have made
snake heads and have hung them by
vines above their heads in the class
room.
GRADE FOUR-FIVE
The grade four-fives were
rewarded with atlases and world
books from the Partners in Excel
lence Program. Brenda Deyell (stu
dent teacher) invited Jeff
Bleomberg on Thursday to visit the
class. He talked about being an
NHL hockey player. They really
enjoyed his visit, and are glad he
came.
GRADE SIX
The grade six class is involved in
a tree project. They also tasted
coconut last week. The grade six
students are also looking forward to
a Mexico Fiesta to end their unit on
Mexico.
GRADE SEVEN
The grade sevens are learning
lines, designing costumes, acting
"John Wayne" style, and construct
ing props. These are just some of
the many activities gong on in their
classroom. This hard work is all
going towards their operetta
"Going West" which will be pre
sented on May 29 at 7:30 p.m.
They are also looking forward to
their trip to see "The Phantom of
the Opera" on June 23. They have
sold donuts every week to assist the
cost of this trip.
