Festival announces youth programme
The Blyth festival has announced
details for the 1991 youth work
shops for children between the ages
of 5 and 12 years.
This year's youth workshops will
focus on the environment and our
community. Registration for all is
Monday, July 1 from 10 a.m. to 12
noon and 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. in the
Blyth Memorial Hall basement.
Registration fee: $10 per child for
the two week session. The children
will explore, and eventually present
to their public on Friday, July 12,

most respected and watched current
affairs shows in Canadian broad
casting history. With a weekly
audience of a million and a half, he
circled the globe for his interviews
with word figures. Winner of many
broadcasting awards, Bonisteel is
most proud of his Gordon Sinclair
award for "Excellence in Broadcast
Journalism" and "Best Television
Host in Canada". Currently, he is
Vice-President and General Man
ager of a new FM radio station
which operated in the Quinle area.
Bonisteel and his wife Jane live ’
on a farm in the Bay of Quinte area
of Ontario where his family has
lived for seven generations. Bom
near Trenton he began his career as
a print journalist for the Belleville
and Trenton newspapers, switching
to radio in the early 50's. He joined
CKTB in St. Catherines where he
broadcast news, interviews and
produced radio specials for 12
years.
In 1965, Roy went to Vancouver
as Director of Broadcasting for the
United Church of Canada. Subse
quently he became Canadian head
their collective stories about the
environment. Youth workshop co
ordinator is Joanne Olsen. Daily
sessions are: mornings 9:00 - 12
noon (ages 5-8) and afternoons
1:00 - 4:00 p.m. (ages 9 - 12).
From mid-July to mid-August,
the Blyth Festival is once again
offering its summer programme for
students aged 13 to 18 years - the
Young Company. They will pre
sent a new "green comedy" - The
Polar Bear Swim, a collective cre
ation of stories and music under the
direction of Jennifer Brewin and
of radio operations for the Angli
can, Roman Catholic and United
Churches. He is currently Honorary
Chairman of the Loyalist College
fund-raising drive and is a member
of the Board of Governors of
Albert College in Belleville.
In 1967, he began his work with
the Man Alive program and has
written two books about his Man
Alive experience - In Search of
Man Alive and Man Alive: The
Human Journey. His newest book,
There Was a Time was just pub
lished by Doubleday Canada.
Roy is the recipient of six hon
orary doctorates: Laurentian Uni
versity in Sudbury, Queen's
University in Kingston, the Univer
sity of Windsor, Mount St. Vincent
University in Halifax, St. Francis
Xavier University in Antigonish,
N.S., and University of Prince
Edward Island in Charlottetown.
Tickets to the Opening Night din
ner are $15 each. A good selection
of tickets are available for most
performances at the Blyth Festival
from June 11 to September 14,
1991. Ticket prices range from

Rehearsals for the Young Com
pany begin July 15 from Monday
through Friday (morning and after
noon) until the final performance

Notice is hereby given that the Annual Meeting
of the Wingham and District Hospital Corporation
will be held in the Nursing Assistants Training
Centre, Catherine St., Wingham, Ontario on
Thursday, June 20, 1991, at the hour of eight
o'clock p.m., for the revisions of bylaws; for the
election of Governors; for the appointment of
Auditors; and for the transaction of such other
things as may properly come before the meeting.
Copies of the Annual Report and Hospital
Financial Statements may be obtained at the front
desk of the Wingham and District Hospital prior to
three o'clock p.m., Thursday, June 20, 1991. Said
documents will also be available at the Annual
Meeting.
Memberships granting voting privileges may be
purchased at the front desk of the hospital for five
dollars ($5.00) prior to five o'clock p.m.,
Wednesday, June 5, 1991. No membership sold
after that time, on that date, will entitle the
purchaser to a vote.
