Belgrave people host guests Mr. and Mrs. Jim Paff of London spent the weekend with her parents Brussels 4H club On April 20, the Brussels II 4H club held their first meeting. First the 4H pledge was said then every­ one dressed in rubber boots and raincoats and went out to Ram- mcloo's pond and through a bush near by. As they went they collected things like peat moss, moss, pond water and dirt to study from under the microscope afterwards. Also, club members voted on president, vice president, secretary and press reporter. The officers are: president, Andrea Rammcloo; vice president, Michael Sanders and secretary and press reporter will be rotated. The meeting closed by say­ ing leam to do by doing. Mrs. Rena Montgomery and son Alex of Guelph, Mrs. Phyllis Met­ calfe and her two daughters Maria and Marsha of Walkerton spent Thursday with their parents and grandparents Mr. and Mrs. Edgar Wightman. Mr. and Mrs. Edgar Wightman were guests on Sunday with his daughter and son-in-law Mr. and Mrs. Bruce Hamilton and family of Lucknow. On behalf of the Canadian Can­ cer Society area captain Jane Gras- by would like to thank all those who gave so generously. A total of $3,501 was collected in Belgrave and area. She thanks all canvassers who gave so willingly of their lime to canvass. Phone 887-9250 Auction raises $500 Congratulations to Helen Dobson who received her life membership from the Brussels Legion Auxiliary on Saturday evening. Visiting with Helen and Bill over the weekend were Darlene and Kevin Nichol and girls from Alcona. An excellent turnout for the Ethel Hall Board auction and bake sale helped to realize over $500. Chair­ lady Dorothy Dillworth extended a big thankyou to all who contributed their time and goods for sale. The baking table was the biggest suc­ cess. Grace Smith and Helen Cullen are hosting a lost heir tournament on Friday evening al 8 p.m. at the Ethel Hall to try’to raise some extra funds. It is not necessary to come with a partner in order to play, as singles are welcome as well, and a partner will be arranged for the tournament. The Ethel church ladies are extremely well pleased with the large crowd that turned out for their annual May Supper. Over 600 people were fed buffet style as well as serving takeout din­ ners. The Grey Central Parents Associ­ ation is busy planning for the upcoming 25th anniversary and grand opening of the new addition to the school. A family dance is to be held on May 18 at 8 p.m. and a family picnic on Sunday, May 19 at 1 p.m. All past students are extend­ ed an invitation to return and enjoy the celebration. There were nine tables of euchre played at the last W.I. euchre of the season. Thanks to all who support­ ed the euchre parties this past year.
