Baptism at Duffs
THE CITIZEN, WEDNESDAY, MAY 8,1991. PAGE 11.
More than a tea room
Sacrament of Baptism was
observed at Duffs United Church,
Walton Sunday, May 5 when Rev.
Bonnie Cole Amal baptized Timo
thy James infant son of Rob and
Jeanne Dionne and Bryce Richard
infant son of George and Kim
Kruse assisted by Viola Kirkby,
clerk of session in the lighting of
candles presented to the parents.
The junior choir sang an anthem,
"Make me a light" led by Bonnie
and accompanied by Marion God
kin at the piano.
The reception of new member
John Uyl was followed by the ser
mon, "Are we our neighbour's
keeper?" Gloria Wilbee sang a solo
"Somebody Bigger Than You and
I" accompanied with her guitar.
Lori McClure read the Minute for
Mission. The offering was received
by Bill Coutts and Laverne
McClure.
There were refreshments served
following the services, sponsored
by the senior Sunday School. A
brief board meeting was held fol
lowing worship. The evening meet
ing was canceled.
Family
visits
Visiting with their mother, Mary
Humphries on Sunday were Mr.
and Mrs. Bob Humphries, London;
Wenda Stroop, Palmerston; Mr.
and Mrs. George Kruse and family,
Bayfield and Cathy Ryan, Walton
who all attended the christening of
Mary's grandson Bryce Richard
Kruse at Duffs United Church
Worship service.
The Walton Tea Room is almost
mis-named at this point in its
growth and development. It opened
a year ago this month.
Last August the retail postal out
let took up residence in part of the
tea room and shortly after groceries
and videos became a part of the
inventory, so that now it has
become a little country store.
They still have crafts and excel
lent coffee and lea but now have
expanded their service to meet the
needs of the lovely little communi
ty. Milk, bread, pop, frozen meats,
ice cream and groceries are always
available.
