More than a tea room Sacrament of Baptism was observed at Duffs United Church, Walton Sunday, May 5 when Rev. Bonnie Cole Amal baptized Timo­ thy James infant son of Rob and Jeanne Dionne and Bryce Richard infant son of George and Kim Kruse assisted by Viola Kirkby, clerk of session in the lighting of candles presented to the parents. The junior choir sang an anthem, "Make me a light" led by Bonnie and accompanied by Marion God­ kin at the piano. The reception of new member John Uyl was followed by the ser­ mon, "Are we our neighbour's keeper?" Gloria Wilbee sang a solo "Somebody Bigger Than You and I" accompanied with her guitar. Lori McClure read the Minute for Mission. The offering was received by Bill Coutts and Laverne McClure. There were refreshments served following the services, sponsored by the senior Sunday School. A brief board meeting was held fol­ lowing worship. The evening meet­ ing was canceled. Family visits Visiting with their mother, Mary Humphries on Sunday were Mr. and Mrs. Bob Humphries, London; Wenda Stroop, Palmerston; Mr. and Mrs. George Kruse and family, Bayfield and Cathy Ryan, Walton who all attended the christening of Mary's grandson Bryce Richard Kruse at Duffs United Church Worship service. The Walton Tea Room is almost mis-named at this point in its growth and development. It opened a year ago this month. Last August the retail postal out­ let took up residence in part of the tea room and shortly after groceries and videos became a part of the inventory, so that now it has become a little country store. They still have crafts and excel­ lent coffee and lea but now have expanded their service to meet the needs of the lovely little communi­ ty. WI news On Wednesday, May 15 the Wal­ ton Women's Institute will serve roast beef luncheon at 11:30 a.m. This is the last luncheon till Octo­ ber. There will be a short business discussion following the luncheon and no meeting at night.
