Municipalities get employment funding Nine municipalities in Huron County will receive a total of $1,125,000 to help create jobs and improve local services and facili ties. Huron MPP Paul Klopp has announced on behalf of Ontario Municipal Affairs Minister Dave Cooke. The Village of Brussels receives $35,000 to upgrade its library and undertake various other community improvements; the Township of Tuckersmith will use its $25,000 grant to improve waterlines and roads in the hamlet of Egmondville and the Township of Stephen gets $40,000 to pave streets and im prove drainage in the Police Village of Centralia. The Town of Exeter will get $360,000 to build a new sewage pumping station; the Town of Goderich will use its $250,000 grant to improve parking facilities and reconstruct roads and sewers; and the Township of Howick receives $150,000 to upgrade streets in the three hamlet areas of Wroxeter, Gorrie and Fordwich. As well, the Village of Hensall will put its $75,000 grant toward improving its water distribution system: the Town of Clinton re ceives $150,000 to construct storm drainage and sidewalks in the southwest area and the Town of Wingham gets $40,000 to re develop Cruickshank Park. The funds are part of the provincial government’s $700 mil lion anti-recession initiative an nounced last December. A total of $16.3 million is being given to 82 municipalities through a special enrichment of the pro vinces Program for Renewal, Im provement, Development and Eco nomic revitalization (PRIDE). It is expected that these extra PRIDE grants will generate the equivalent of approximately 306 full-year jobs in the construction industry in 1991-92.
