County increases costs of severances The price of applying for a severance will increase to $1,000 from the current $750 fee according to the budget approved for the Huron County Planning and Development department. Grey Township Reeve Leona Armstrong questioned the increase saying it seemed like the county had only recently increased the fee from $500 to $750. “I’m not sure why it takes $1,000 to do it (process a severance application) in Huron if neighbouring counties can do it for $400,” she said. County Planning Director Dr. Gary Davidson said the higher rate was due to the fact the Huron department processes only 130-160 applications a year compared to counties like Bruce and Grey which do many more. It had been the county’s decision the severance fees should pay for the costs. “If we don’t cover the costs the taxpayer subsidizes people getting severances.” Business and BLAKE Septic Tank GENERAL J.
