Woman The Evening Unit of Belgrave Knox United Church U.C.W. was held Tuesday, March 5 at the home of Mrs. Gordon Bosman, with 21 members present. Members answered the roll call by repeating a St. Patrick’s Day verse. President Mrs. Ross Higgins welcomed everyone and read an Easter poem. Mrs. Bosman and Mrs. Sam Pletch conducted the worship using “Take God on Your Vacation” as their theme. Mrs. Higgins presented the program study. She discussed the Coplic Orthodox Christian Church of Egypt, Canada, U.S.A, and Australia and the Spicer Report which is currently heading the Citizen’s Form which is compiling the Canadian people’s wishes for Canada through an 800 telephone number. She also discussed the Mexican Mennonite element cur­ rently living in Kent County of Southern Ontario. The meeting closed with prayer. Grace was sung and lunch was served. Euchre winners Nine tables of euchre were in play at the weekly euchre in the W.I. Hall in Belgrave. High lady was Mrs. Clarence Hanna; low lady, Mrs. Irene Smyth; second high, Mrs. George Johnston; most lone hands, Mrs. Lloyd Appleby; high man, George Johnston; low man, Lloyd Appleby; second high, Clarence Hanna; most lone hands, Stanley Black. celebrates birthday Celebrating Mrs. Elizabeth Proc­ ter’s birthday on Sunday, March 10, at the Exeter restaurant for a delicious meal were Mr. and Mrs. Larry Mayberry, Kimberly, Darryl, Chris and friend of Londesboro; Mr. and Mrs. Philip Stopforth of Byron; Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Hill, RR 1, Tavistock; Mr. and Mrs. Howard Zettler, Sherry, Amanda and Alicia of RR 4, Walkerton and Mr. and Mrs. Frank Procter and Kevin. Miss Melissa Bieman of Wing­ ham is spending a couple of days with her grandmother Mrs. Agnes Bieman. Lewis Stonehouse is a patient in the Wingham and District Hospital having undergone surgery last Wednesday. Cancer Soc. holds information night Dr. Walter Wong, the Branch Medical Advisor for the Canadian Cancer Society will speak on the topic of “Lifestyles” at a special information night on Wednesday, March 20 at 7:30 p.m. in the new Wingham and Area Seniors Day Centre next to Cruickshank Park. In addition to Dr. Wong, volun­ teers and representatives will be present to provide information concerning service to patients such as: transportation. Cancer clinics, education, palliative care, the Lon­ don Regional Centre, Thameswood Lodge, Ronald McDonald House and fund raisers. A question and answer period will follow the presentations. Infor­ mation pamphlets will also be available.
