Barons on verge of sweeping Bulls 1:36 to end the first period tied at two. The second period was all Barons as they scored three unanswered goals to take a 5-2 lead after 40 minutes. At 14:51 Steve Beisel scored from Tracy Aljoe. Then two minutes later Bill Spielmaker scor­ ed. The Bulls final goal of game three was scored by Greg McNevan from Corey McKee and Marty Rutledge at 6:45. The final score Hanover 7, Brussels 3. SUNWORTHY YES - YOU - CAN WALLCOVERINGS the best Both Brussels Bulls hosted Hanover Barons last night (Tuesday) know­ ing that if they lost, their season would be over. For the second year in a row the Bulls and Barons met in the league final and over the first three games the Barons gave every indication they intended on keeping league championship. Friday was possibly the game of hockey this season, teams had good scoring chances in the first period but nobody scored. However, at 18:29 of the second Trevor Aljoe gave Hanover a 1-0 lead. Ian Brooks scored at 13:51. The Bulls got their first goal off the stick of Jason Baier with assists from Steve Fritz and Marty Rut­ ledge. Tracy Aljoe scored from Jeremy Franks and Bill Spielmaker at 10:28. Bevin Flett got that goal back at 9:37 with assists from Greg McNevan and Jeff Doulgas. Jeff Doulgas tied the score from Paul Brophy and Greg McNevan at 8:48. Mike Bender gave the Barons a one-goal lead after 40 minutes. Jay Shewfelt scored at 14:09. Marty Rutledge scored at 8:49 on a pass from Steve Fritz and Bevin Flett. However, Trevor Aljoe scor­ ed in the empty net with seven seconds left to give the Barons game one, 6-4. Saturday the Bulls hosted game two of the series. As in game one very little scoring in the first period as Bill Spielmaker scored the only goal of the period. The Bulls scored at 12:54 a power-play goal as Martv Rutledge connected from Jeff McKee and Steve Fritz. Jeff Doulgas gave the Bulls a one-goal lead after 40 minutes with assists from Steve Vandendool and Greg McNevan. Dan Neil scored at 15:24. Trevor Aljoe scored at 7:02 what proved to be the game winner. Mike Bender scored a short-handed goal to make the final Barons 4, Bulls 2. Trevor Aljoe opened the scoring in game three Sunday in Hanover, from Kevin Pollich and Tracy Aljoe at 16:51. Marty Rutledge tied the score at 12:22 from Steven Vandendool. Tony Wilson got that goal back for the Barons at 9:35. Shawn Chip­ chase scored a short-handed goal at Sprouts win title The Brussels Sprouts won the Lucknow Tyke Tournament on the weekend. The Sprouts played some super hockey on Saturday as they defeat­ ed Teeswater 6-1. Goal scorers were Ian, Thompson with two and single goals from Chris Coulter, Nolan Krotz, Kenny McCallum and Andy Vanbeek.
