We think that everybody should start cleaning it up. In February we gave the earth hugs and warm fuzzies. We tried really hard to save the earth by not littering, not using too much hydro, and not wasting too much water. Here are some of the hugs we gave the earth: 1 turned off the tap upstairs in the washroom. - Bryce Hunt I turned off the light. - Cheryl Armstrong. When I wrote my story I didn’t waste paper. - Amy Demaray I turned off the T.V. - Crystal Ahrens. I am saving gas by driving to school with a friend. - Miss Rose. I turned off a tap that was dripping. - Mike Stephenson I turned off the water in the bathroom. - Katrina Reesor. I turned off the light. - Destiny Lichty. Letter Continued from page 5 you’re better off for it. Almost all porn soft and hard core is violent at its best. If indeed it was truly erotica I would be in favour of it, but reading lies about how adults and children enjoy being humiliat ed. degraded and used as sexual objects will never help anyone establish a good relationship with another human being. Making heroes out of cartoon characters like “Chester the Molester’’? I'm sorry, 1 don’t see the humour, and when the softest of all pornography has the “Happy Hooker” as the love advisor or sex counsellor it’s downright silly to suggest that society is going to adopt healthy habits from reading this crap. As far as studies go, a recent study showed that 82 per cent of all rapists admit to imitating porno graphy; of 3800 rapes in the state of Michigan 41 per cent of rapists used pornography just prior or during their assaults. The list could continue. We could talk about Garry Bishop or Thomas Shirow, porn collectors who give full credit to the industry for egging them on while they raped, molest ed and murdered at least 29 women and children between the two of them. I know that not every one who views pornography will become demented, but 1 also know that almost all sex criminals studied are imitating what they have seen and read, so why keep showing them this garbage! I hav#> to Dick with anave no bones to nick with green-hairvu ui<a.. P,CK with a society allow the producers of pornography to promote miscon ceptions about our wives and children before we see that vio lence is being fuelled by money- hungry scum that worries more about their pockets than they do about what happens to you or your family. If there are any anti-sexual, anti pleasure attitudes in society, it’s in pornography. If anyone is imma ture and uncertain about sexual matters it’s the pornographers. Pornography is so filled with hatred, lies and misconceptions that considering it good for society has got to be wrong; unfortunately for the victims of pornography “dead” wrong. You are right, Doug. The solu tion is not going to be easy, but it only makes sense to start with the obvious. Getting ride of material that suggests that any part of the human race enjoy being victimized is a logical start. At the root of the violence problem is insecurity and uncer tainty, and neither of these will go away as long as we allow lies to counsel the uncertain and hatred to comfort the insecure. LESLIE COOK BRUSSELS. off one the was bathroom light there. - Jessica off the tap. - Stacey I picked up garbage at recess. - Michael Beirnes. I turned when no VanLoo. I turned Bowles. I turned off the tap when no one was using it. - Rodney Dammeier. No one was in our room so I turned off the light. - Sarah Brubacher. 1 turned off the computer when no one was playing. - Ginny Clegg. 1 picked up a tin can. - Jamie Hiusser. I turned off the tap when no one was in the bathroom. - Katy Sproul. I picked up garbage at home. - Jason Maerz. When I am finished, I turn off the T.V. - Roger Haag. 1 shut the door for my brother when he went in the house. - Holly Grubb. We are going to do this for as long as we live. We hope that everyone else will love the earth as much as we do. GRADE 1 GREY CENTRAL PUBLIC SCHOOL.
