The 12-year-old daughter of Uni­ versity professor Maggie Benton (Grover) suddenly disappears. Maggie turns to her neighbour and friend Renee (Brenda Devine) for consolation. The support offered Maggie reveals the underlying envy both Renee and her husband John (Hauff) carry towards her. Festival management is encourag­ ed by the solid advance sale in the prevailing difficult economic en­ vironment. Equally positive sales figures are being recorded for all 14 1990 productions: at the Festival Thea­ tre - “Hamlet’’, “Much Ado About Nothing”, “Carousel”, and “Trea­ sure Island”; at the Avon Theatre - “Our Town”, “Twelfth Night”, “Les Belles Soeurs”, “The School for Wives”, and “An Enemy of the People”; at the Tom Patterson Theatre, "Timon of Athens”, “Homeward Bound”, “The Rules of the Game”, “The Knight of the Burning Pestle”, “Love Letters”, and “The Banff Music Theatre’s Operas”. Plenty of good seats are still available, but Festival ticket buyers would be well advised to act quickly if they wish to avoid disappointment. In the Grade 2 Rudiments cate­ gory, Katherine Ann Van Bakel and Jane Kathryn Dykstra both received first class honours with distinction while Angela Grace Verburg and Jodi Webster scored honours. In Grade 1 Rudiments, Lynda Ann Dykstra received first class honours with distinction while Ste­ phanie Henry, Rhonda Lynn Ho- watt and Pamela Kuipers received KEEP CANADA BEAUTIFUL first class honours.
