Trophies for the junior figure skating and power skating were given out at the annual carnival of
the Blyth Figure Skating Club Friday evening. Leanne Haggitt won the figure skating award,
presented by Diane Ferguson while Dennis Higgins won the power skating award, presented by
Nancy Hakkers.

will appear in “Under the Skin’’
opening March 1 at the McManus
Studio Theatre of The Grand
Theatre in London.
Thomas Hauff (various plays
including Death of the Donnellys)
and Deborah Grover (The Tomor
row Box) appear in the play by
author Betty Lambert.
The 12-year-old daughter of Uni
versity professor Maggie Benton
(Grover) suddenly disappears.
Maggie turns to her neighbour and
friend Renee (Brenda Devine) for
consolation. The support offered
Maggie reveals the underlying
envy both Renee and her husband
John (Hauff) carry towards her. Ii
addition to the terror felt from he
child’s disappearance, Maggie dis
covers the horrors of Renee’s per
sonal struggle to accept the reality
of living with an abusive spouse
Inspired by a true story, “Undei
the Skin’’ presents the terrors anc
encompassing effects of violem
behaviour.

productions: at the Festival Thea
tre - “Hamlet’’, “Much Ado About
Nothing”, “Carousel”, and “Trea
sure Island”; at the Avon Theatre -
“Our Town”, “Twelfth Night”,
“Les Belles Soeurs”, “The School
for Wives”, and “An Enemy of the
People”; at the Tom Patterson
Theatre, "Timon of Athens”,
“Homeward Bound”, “The Rules
of the Game”, “The Knight of the
Burning Pestle”, “Love Letters”,
and “The Banff Music Theatre’s
Operas”. Plenty of good seats are
still available, but Festival ticket
buyers would be well advised to act
quickly if they wish to avoid
disappointment.
