The Citizen, 1991-02-27, Page 29Obituaries M. RUTH SHOBBROOK M. Ruth Shobbrook, RR 1, Blyth died at Wingham and District Hospital Feb. 3, 1991. She was 77 years of age. She was bom in Morris township the daughter of the late Herbert and Maggie Manning. She married Clifford D. Shobbrook who survives her. Also surviving are a son, Charles and his wife Shirley Shob­ brook, RR 3, Walton and a daugh­ ter Margaret and her husband Wayne Allin, RR 1, Blyth. Also surviving are two sisters: Laura Querengesser, Kitchener and Grace, Mrs. Carman Knox, Scarborough as well as two grand­ children, Julie, Mrs. Paul Jackson, Greensville and Dean Shobbrook, Thunder Bay and one great-grand­ daughter, Laura Jackson. She was a member of Londes- borough United Church. The funeral took place from the Beattie- Falconer Funeral Home, Tasker Chapel in Blyth on Feb. 6, 1991. Interment in Brussels Cemetery. Business and Professional Directory CHARLES GORDON “CHUBBS” JOHNSTON Charles Johnston of Clinton died at his residence on Thursday, February 14. He was 49. Born in Hullett Township on September 16, 1941, he was the son of Robert Gordon and Almeda (Pushelburg) Johnston. He was married to Barbara Anne (Graham- Needham) Johnston, who died on October 13, 1990. Mr. Johnston was employed with Lavis Construction. He is survived by his children, Barbara and her husband Len Smith of Windsor, Shirleyanne and her husband Garry Creighton of London, Stan Gilbert and his wife Marg of Brucefield, Catherine Brand and boys of London, Richard Gilbert of RR 5, Clinton and Larry Rebekahs hold card party It’s too bad so many people missed the last I.O.O.F and Rebe-. kah card party on Feb. 18, 1991 due to the bad weather. From all reports they missed a lot of fun and a really good laugh. Winners were: high lady, Sarah Stephenson; low lady, Eluned Mc­ Nair: high man. Jim smith; low Johnston and Wendy Johnston, both of Clinton. Also surviving are six grandchildren. Mr. Johnston is also survived by three sisters, Helen (Mrs. Jack McLeod) of Thedford, Nancy (Mrs. Elwin Good) of RR 3 Auburn, and Donna (Mrs. Walter Oliver) of RR 1, Londesboro, and by one brother, Jim Johnston and his wife Rose­ mary of Londesboro. The funeral was held on Mon­ day, February 18, at the Beattie- Falconer Ball Chapel, with Rev. Philip Weaver of the Vanastra Christian Reformed Church presid­ ing. The pallbearers were Peter Brand, William Bromley, James Flynn, Ken Good, Roger Haines, Ron Oliver, Elgin Pease and Wayne Pickard. PAGE 29. Wingham Hospital Aux. to donate equipment The Auxiliary to the Wingham and District Hospital met January 28 with Marie Phillips presiding in the absence of the president Mary Lou Cameron. A goodly number of members were present and the Auxiliary prayer was given in unison. As the Auxiliary was considering the purchase of equipment for the hospital, Barbara Major-McEwan Director of Dietetics and William Woodley, Director of Patient Care were in attendance to present some options. Mrs. Major-McEwan told of the need of a new food merchan- dizer for the cafeteria area and Mr. Woodley suggested four items of equipment necessary to patient health care. Decisions were made in favour of purchasing an operat­ ing room stretcher and an automa­ tic blood pressure cuff. Seven babies from the nursery were sent home in Christmas stockings during the holiday season and Mrs. Linda Miller, RR 1, Lucknow was presented with the J. A Blood Donor Clinic will be held in March and the Spring Rummage Sale in April with extended hours: April 18, 6 to 9 p.m.; April 19, 9 to 1 p.m. The Auxiliary requires volun­ teers for several openings on the slate of officers beginning May 1991 for the following positions: President, Vice-President, Record­ ing Secretary, Historian and Press Reporter and Gift Shoppe and Telephone Convenor. The Gift Shoppe at the hospital main entrance is open daily from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. and has many items for sale including stuffed toys, baby outfits, gift items, silk flowers, candy and cards.
