Busy week at Brussels Mennonite Fellowship The Life Leaders Group, the Prayer and Praise Group and the Missions Committee all held meet­ ings at the Brussels Mennonite Shellie and Michael Bachert Newlyweds honeymoon in Hawaii KUCMAN - BACHERT On August 25, 1990, Marvin Keith Bachert and Wendy Sue Kucman were united in marriage in Welland. The bride is the daughter of Joseph and Frances Kucman of Welland, and the groom is the son of Keith and Janet Bachert of Walton. Attending the bride as Maid of Honor was her sister, Joanne Kucman of Toronto. Sheila Bachert of Walton, and Naomi Pratt Engle- hart were bridesmaids. Attending the groom as Best Man was Mike Bachert of Cumberland, Maryland, brother of the groom. Ushers were Kevin Kucman of Welland and Steven Hicks of Sarnia. Darren and Joey Kucman and Mark Bachert were greeters. The couple honeymooned for 10 days on the island of Kauai, Hawaii. They now reside at RR 3, Walton. Fellowship various evenings throughout the last week. Margaret McLeod was the leader for the worship service at the Wendy and Marvin Bachert Nursing Home on Friday evening. The Men’s Fellowship Breakfast was held at the Golden Lantern Restaurant Saturday morning and Couple weds in Virginia REEL -BACHERT The marriage ceremony of Michael Chris Bachert, to Shellie Marie Reel, was performed in a beautiful garden setting in Keyser, West Virginia on June 16, 1990. The bride is the daughter of James and Shelba Reel of Keyser, West Virginia, and the groom is the son of Keith and Janet Bachert of Walton. The couple was attended by Sarah Reel, of West Virginia, as Maid of Honour and Marvin Bach­ ert of Walton as Best Man. The bridesmaids were Rachel Pancake, of West Virginia, Sheila Bachert, of Walton, Anita Kirk of West Virginia, Shirlee Bachert of Walton and Valerie Chambers of West Virginia. Steve Fletcher of Midland, Allan Bell of Toronto, Dan Bachert Jr. of Seaforth, Micah Reel of West Virginia and Mark Bachert, were the groomsmen. Dan DeBlock and Steve Hicks of Sarnia, ushered. The couple honeymooned on the Golden Isles of Georgia and in Florida. They now reside in Cum­ berland, Maryland. the group saw a video on Royal Homes. Saturday evening the Youth had a games night in the Church gymnasium. Sunday evening they had supper at Martin’s and a preparation session for a Youth Service Venture during March Break. Lent 03 Brussels 11:15a.m. Friendship Chib meets at Maple Villa Through the courtesy of Maple Villa the Friendship Club was invited to hold their meeting in the Common Room on Wednesday, Feb. 20 at 1 p.m. commencing with a delicious lunch consisting of sandwiches, relishes, cheese tray, B. Brown speaker at UCW Brussels United Church Women held their meeting Wednesday, Feb. 6 in the Church Parlour with 15 ladies present. The worship program was led by Barbara McMillian who gave a prayer. The hymn, “We Love They Place of God” was sung. The scripture was from Matthew, chap­ ter 5. A reading was given from a book by Harold Kushmer: “When bad things happen to Good People”. Prayer was followed by the Lord’s Prayer and the hymn, “The Day Thou Gavest”. The guest speaker was Bev Brown, on mental health and cake and coffee and provided by the reisdents of Maple Villa. The President Gerald Exel open­ ed the meeting with a silent prayer and tribute to the servicemen in the Persian Gulf. Also he expressed transportation for older people from town to town. The President opened the busi­ ness with prayer. The U.C.W. Purpose was read by Gertie Kell- ington. Luella Mitchell read the secretary’s report. Pat Watson gave a report on the Blyth Festival lunches and hot luncheon Feb. 28 at the Church. The ladies were asked to save the soup labels and their stamps to be put in boxes at the church. The ladies were asked to go to Easter Thankoffering in Blyth March 24. World Day of Prayer is at Duffs Church in Walton, March 1 at 7:30 p.m. hope for a speedy recovery to Mrs. Gerald Exel and Mrs. Ruby Steiss. A Get Well card was signed and forwarded to Jessie Engel who is confined to hospital. Gerald read a poem entitled “Little Things”. The new certificate received from the United Senior Citizens was dis­ played and indicated the new revised club title simply, “Brussels Friendship Club”. On April 17 the Club will provide entertainment and lunch for the residents at Huron view in Clinton. The next meeting will also be held at Maple Villa on Wednesday, March 20 with Bev. Brown as guest speaker if she is available. The Club would like to express their appreciation to the Villa for the use of the common room with its compactness and cozy relation­ ship and also for the use of the kitchen facilities.
