It cost Huron County taxpayers $211,784 last year to pay for salaries and expenses of county councillors and appointed members of boards. Top on the list of salaries and expenses released at the Feb. 7 meeting of county council was past Warden Lionel Wilder. He received remuneration of $37,926 and had convention and other expenses of $6,713.91 for a total of $44,460.51. Lowest salary and expenses was claimed by John Rodges, deputy reeve of Goderich Township who went to no conventions and drew a salary of $2,335 (Patricia Carrier and Dave Johnston of Bayfield each had small salaries but they split the year representing Bayfield). Women teachers who aspire to or who are in positions of responsibility - that is, principals, vice-principals, co-or­ dinators, consultants, and directors - will share an evening with Trustees and Superintendents of the Huron County Board of Educa­ tion. The evening has been set aside to allow informal presentation of female educators as prospective administrators. The Huron Women Teachers’ Association continues to work for the promotion of female teachers as worthy candidates for appointment to administration in our present Board of Education. The keynote speaker for the evening is Susan Burke, well- known educator from the Perth County Board of Education. Susan will speak on “Goal Setting”.
