Letter to the editor No protection for unborn Theatre sponsorship announced Generous donation Martin Clarke, a representative with Hanwell Contracting of RR 1, Thedford and Daymond Vinyl Products of London shakes hands with Kate Burnett, Business Manager at Huron Country Playhouse after announcing that Hanwell Contracting will donate the new vinyl siding to the theatre school. Hanwell Contracting of RR 1, Thedford and Daymond Vinyl Pro ducts of London have announced that they will be donating new vinyl siding to the Theatre School at the Huron Country Playhouse. Martin Clarke, a representative of Hanwell Contracting made the announce ment at the Playhouse on January 30. He said that his reason for the sponsorship was very simple. “This area has been very good to our business and this is our way of giving something back to the community.” Mr. Clarke said he was approached by Kate Burnett, Business Manager at Huron Coun try Playhouse, and asked if he had any old siding in any colour that he could donate for the portable classroom they had recently acquir ed for the Children’s Theatre School. He said that when he went to see the portable and noted the extensive rot in the existing wood siding, he saw an opportunity to help a really good cause by donating enough new siding to completely re-do the building. Mrs. Burnett said that the sid ing, valued at over $1,200 will be delivered in the early spring and will be installed by the theatre’s technical crew when they arrive in May. Kate Burnett stated that she was hoping for enough siding to patch the very rotted spots on the exterior and was overwhelmed when the news came of this very generous gift to the Theatre School. DEAR EDITOR, The defeat of Bill C-43, by the senate January 31, 1991 means that Canada is still without an abortion law and without protection for the unborn child. The two main reasons for the defeat are: 1) that the abortion issue be reinstated in the criminal code (pro-choice argument) and 2) the failure of full protection for the unborn (pro-life argument). Parliament should now start afresh with a new law which fully assures the right to life of the most vulnerable of Canadians, the un born. Happy 25th Anniversau It is extremely sad and unaccept able that in a civilized society these little ones must still be unprotect ed. J.
