3-2 and travelled to Mitchell where
they dominated the Mitchell II

Blyth on Monday, January 21
Stephen Township built a 2-0 early
second period lead before Blyth
wore the visitors down in the third
in a comeback 3-2 win.
Ryan Chamney and Jason Rut
ledge recorded the assists on Brian
McNichol’s power play goal to cut
the lead to 2-1 midway through the
second period. Peter Craig and
Brad Anderson assisted on the
tying goal six minutes into the third
as Peter’s shot deflected into the
net off the skate of Benjie Hakkers.
Benjie Hakkers then recorded the
winner with six minutes left in the
game as the redirected Henry
Bos’s backhand shot past the
goalie. Christopher Howson also
assisted on the goal as he set up
Henry’s shot from near the blue-
line.
This 3-2 win was a direct result of
the work ethic of the team as they
played with enthusiasm and tena
city as they out-worked the opposi
tion.
Against Mitchell II, Blyth scored
the only first period goal with Jason
Rutledge’s forechecking resulting
in the assist on Brad Anderson’s
goal.
Henry Bos increased the lead to
2-0 midway through the second as

A bad bounce in the Blyth zone
resulted in Mitchell’s only goal of
the game in the final minute of the
second period but Blylh iced the
win with three unanswered third
period markers.
Benjie Hakkers and Christopher
Howson assisted on Blyth’s third
goal as Ryan Chamney poked in a
loose puck from amongst a crowd of
players near the Mitchell goal
crease.
Mike Salverda increased the lead
to 4-1 as his shot trickled across the
goal line after a set up from Ryan
Chamney and Jon Collins.
Christopher Howson completed
the scoring as he deflected Peter
Craig’s low shot high into the top
shelf from in close. This 5-1 win,
coupled with Wingham H’s refusal
to play Blyth, completed the regu
lar schedule for the Pee Wees.
Playoffs start this week as they
play Hensall in a best three out of
five opening round series.
