Phone 887-9487 'Christmas sermon theme The sanctuary of Knox United Church, Belgrave was effectively decorated for the Christmas service with a Nativity Creche, a tree aglow, seasonal floral arrange ment, candelabra with lighted tapers and evergreen garlands. Mrs. Elizabeth Procter and Mrs. Sylvia Procter presented an organ piano prelude while Miss Sharon Keller and Mrs. Mary Ellen Keller welcomed the church attendants on arrival. These two persons also distributed the service bulletins. Offertory stewards were Glen Hunter, Tim Coultes, Ross Higgins and Jack Taylor. The large choir of mixed voices sang Shepherd’s Christmas, with organ accompaniment. Rev. Peter Tucker who conducted the service, chose scripture passages, Zechar iah 2 and Matthew 2: 1-11 as the basis for his remarks. His theme was “Christmas”. He stated the circumstances at the Burning Bush when Moses received his command to rescue and lead his people from the cruel Egyptians to the land of milk and honey was similar to the Bethlehem birth. Palestine was under harsh Roman rule. Jesus came to rescue and lead his people from weariness; sorrow, sinfulness and affliction to an eternity of freedom and joy. The world needs the God of Christmas. Church members are the ministers of the gospel. The meaning of Christmas is “God Lives, Loves and Commun icates.” GIC Rates 10 Id 3/4% 3-5 yrs. • NO FEES • ALL INVESTMENTS GUARANTEED & INSURED • FUNDS TRANSFERABLE VIA CHARTER BANK r.INVESTMENTS | r524-2773 Go*HKh 1-800-265-5503 COKE CLASSIC CASE OF 24 X 280ML TINS 6.99 NABOB Summit Ground Coffee 3oog 2.79REGULAR FINE OR DECAF.
